Aidan Epply-Schmidt

Aidan Epply-Schmidt first picked up the guitar in high school and hasn’t put it down since. His musical interests started in the hard rock and metal genres but quickly expanded to include blues, jazz, classical, and progressive music. Inspired by his own guitar instructor, Aidan decided to pursue music in college and studied at multiple schools including Amherst College and Gettysburg College’s Sunderman Conservatory of Music. He graduated with a B.A. in music theory and composition.

Aidan’s teaching philosophy is outlined by the old saying, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. His goal is to give each student the necessary tools to tackle any piece of music they desire. This includes not only playing technique but also the knowledge to understand the inner workings of the music being played. In short, Aidan aims for his students to know how to play, what they are playing, and why they are playing it. Aidan creates a custom lesson plan for each student according to their goals, needs, and musical tastes. His approach emphasizes encouragement and student feedback to provide a positive and long-lasting relationship with music.
