Unleash the Sounds
Using the blueprint of Yamaha’s flagship Montage series, the MODX8 includes the AWM2 sound engine for sample based sounds like Yamaha’s CFX Concert Grand, electric pianos, strings, and drums in addition to the FM-X engine to take care of those juicy synth style leads. Throw your own spin on each preset sound via Yamaha’s VCM processor which allows you to combine up to 27 effects simultaneously. With 1GB of internal flash memory, you can use the MODX8’s A/D input to run external sounds through the systems powerful processors. Its also “content compatible” with Montage so you can load in various Montage sound packs.

Super- Sophisticated Control
Driven by a full 7” color display, the MODX8 makes it easy to blend AWM2 and FM-X sounds thanks to its Motion Control Synthesis. This groundbreaking features allows you to split and layer up to 8 different sounds while giving you the ability to fine tune the exact parameters of each preset. Enjoy expedited expression by mapping specific control parameters to the mighty Super Knob. This convenient control can be used to create dramatic sweeps or you can set it to jump between scenes. You also have access to an envelope filter which lets you use internal/external audio to automatically adjust synth parameters and the even more advanced Motion Sequences feature that adjust synth settings from rhythmic control data.

Professional Mobility
The MODX8 88-key graded hammer action keyboard is perfect for traditional acoustic piano players. For streamlined DAW integration, you can send up to 16 MIDI channels and 10 audio channels. Yamaha knows that the MODX8 will have a home in your studio in addition to taking temporary residency on the nearest stage so the synthesizer is incredibly lightweight but rugged enough to withstand constant travel.
