With a focus on portability and simplicity, the Juno DS61 is a great synth for the beginner or the working professional. In addition to being a powerful stage keyboard, the Juno DS61 excels in computer music production, making it a great addition to any home or professional studio. Ultra-portability, essential pro-quality sounds, and an integrated USB interface make the Juno DS61 a top choice for both stage and studio.

Coming in at around 12 lbs and featuring a modest 61-note keyboard, the Juno DS61 is the smallest and lightest of the Juno DS series. With optional battery operation, the Juno DS61 is a true pack and go synthesizer that can handle any environment.

Patches from the previous-generation Juno-Di synth are fully compatible too. You can also add more sounds using the Juno DS88 wave expansion slot and Roland's Axial website.

Tons of Keyboard in a Portable Package!

First, my experience with Sam Ash has been great over the last couple of years! They've won me back as a loyal customer after a long hiatus. The Juno DS61 has been a great intro into modern synths. The keyboard is "synth-weighted" which is fancy way of saying it feels like a plastic organ. The keys are more solid than other keyboards I've tried, but they still make we think I want hammer-action weighted keys -- I like to play more than I like to program, but I'm not an actual pianist. The sound quality is excellent. The strings, brass, synths, and pianos are all really good sounding. There are well over a thousand sounds available, but I think that's a slight exaggeration in terms of usefulness. There are like 60 acoustic pianos, I think I like 2 or 3 of them, and that's it. Plus, you can download sounds from Roland, which I'm looking forward to now that they've released the updated driver for MacOS Catalina. The amount of editing that you can do for each sound is extensive; probably too much. There are so many things to explore on this keyboard, but the truth is you can make useful noise almost instantly. It's very well laid out in terms of categorizing and accessing sound banks... the 4 real-time controller knobs are great -- especially the filter and resonance controls. The mixer is handy too. The super layer function is an awesome way to really thicken up any sound. I haven't even begun to explore the vocoder and autotune... and the onboard recording functions that go into the phrase pads. The biggest challenge with an instrument like this is really using it to its full potential.

Excellent Sound Engine

My 15 year old workstation, that cost 3x the price of the Juno DS, was showing it's age. I searched for a small footprint synth with quality sounds. The Juno did not disappoint. Great piano, organ, brass, and synth sounds at a modest price. The materials and construction are not as rugged as higher priced gear, but the Juno certainly fits the bill for my live performance and recording needs.

Perfect portable synth and keyboard

The Juno 61 has the same killer engine as the DS 88 in a smaller more lightweight package. The key are not weighted but have fantastic response. It's packed with tons of amazing samples including analog synth sounds and acoustic samples; you have a four channel mixer for adjusting levels on rhythm patterns, two voices (if you're splitting the keyboard), and the microphone input. This is the keyboard I would choose for live performance to integrate with my current analog mono synth rig!! This is a Sam Ash review.

Get your Juno Fix in a Smaller Package

Drawing from Roland's advanced SuperNATURAL engine and the Juno lineage, Roland has created a faithful modern stage synth. With controls that are more minimalist in nature than generations previous, users can focus on performance and get to playing quickly. 8 drum pads allow for sequencing and loops to use as a tool during production or on stage. The sounds are so real that it almost seems unreal with the quality of sound at this price point. The 61-key model comes in a smaller more manageable package without skimping on any of the audio quality.

Killer synth

61 keys with awesome sound quality! Phrase pads are easy to use. Singers can plug their mic right into the synth and it even has auto pitch and a dedicated vocal reverb. Top of the line synthesizer.

Great 61 key synth

The Juno series has been a staple of Roland pianos for years and this generations Juno DS is a great one to get. Compared to previous models this generations model is stripped down which allows for amazing sound and tone without having a crazy learning curve. The 8 drum pads allow for sequencing and abilities to great loops while you accompany it with over 1000 different sounds.
