Magic in a box

I own a Dual Rec 100w amp head. The thing about these amps is that the more gain that is pushed, the looser, or flubbier the low end becomes. The great thing about this pedal is I can run it on my clean channel and add a bit of dirt and push the gain to get the umph I want. I can also use it to on the dirty channel or lead channel and push my gain. The great thing is that as I use it to push my gain I get a level of compression to tighten of my low end. Even If I roll the level all the way down on this pedal as not to color my tone, I still get that compression I need to get the my Boogie to tighten up. Do yourself a favor and buy this pedal.... experiment with it. Try different settings on it, I promise there is something in here that you'll love.

I love how this pedal really complements my amp. It brings out the warm and rich tones I've been looking for. It's not an overdrive to the point of crunch and not quite a boost. Its the perfect porridge to my tubes. I love it

This is an iconic pedal used by everyone from SRV to Rory Gallagher. Still the standard by which others are measured.

the classic. if you need an overdrive pedal, this is the one.

Over rated, over priced, save your money

With all due respect to SRV who made this stomp box famous, the unit is a complete disappointment. The overdrive does no justice to any of my seven Strats which are set up with everything from Texas Specials to Kinmans. I've allowed others to borrow it to see if in fact I'm crazy, however their response was the same. Definitely NOT worth the money in fact a rip off at nearly &200.00. I was told that SRV played through TWO of these units tied together and perhaps that is the key, but one by itself is weak to say the least. Additionally, it sounds worse through a Telecaster.

Legal Tube Amp Steriods!

I tried this pedal out along with the TS9, the TS9turbo, EM BigMuff and the BBE Grean Screamer (all through a Hot Rod Deluxe w/2006 Highway 1 rosewood neck strat) First off I quickly learned that the BigMuff wasn't anything like i was looking for (way to much overdive, but not bad, just not me) then I knew it would be decision between the TS9, turbo, Green Screamer and the TS808. I found out that the TS9 and TS9DX are the same only that the latter has the increased drive selection. I ruled out the TS9dx shortly after because I found the additional gain selection to be undynamic and non-musical. I knew i would never really use the other settings. Next was the green screamer... I found this pedal to sound muddier than the TS9 you could tell it was a poor emulation of the inbanez. So it was down to the TS9 and the TS808. Both sounded very close. But it was something about the 808 that sounded a little bit crispier. I both thought they were great pedals however the 808 had the little something special that the TS9 didn't. I think it was a combination of alot of things. the vintige look, the crisper tone and the idea of having the original. However I don't think the TS9 will dissappoint you at all. I hope to own both soon. on the hot rod btw if you put the amp on channel 2 or 3 along with the 808 or 9 you get a really creamy sustaining tone from a strat. Everyone just get tube screamer! Another thing I like most about the pedal is that for me it cleaned up my bass strings. before the drive channels on the amp were flabby with lower notes. There was no definition, the 808 provided the remidy for this!
