I picked up the left-handed version of the Mikro bass to see if a short scale bass would work better for me because of some damage when I was a kid to my fretting hand. The short scale of the bass is great for someone used to playing the scale length of an electric guitar and the bass itself pays well. The major criticism I have is the flexibility of the neck and body. It doesn't take much pressure at all on the neck to change the pitch of the note. I knew the floppier strings of the short scale would change the pitch more, but I was surprised how little pressure it takes to change pitch just holding the bass, at least compared to my long scale. Also, it seems like some odd overtones are created that are especially noticeable when playing along with prerecorded songs. Overall, for the price it is a fun little bass that has an expressive neck.
