Inspired by the iconic Ampeg SVT, the Thunder Bass head offers bass players massive tone in a portable, lightweight package. The SVT has been an industry standard for decades, and now you can obtain these tones without having to haul cumbersome amps with large speaker cabinets around. You get that classic SVT tone in a low-wattage, ultra-portable package.

The simplified control layout features a single volume, along with a user-friendly 3-band EQ with bass, mid, and treble controls. You will be able to dial up warm, clean tones or a huge overdriven ‘stack’ sound.  Speaker out can automatically fit cabinets of different impedances ranging from 4-16 ohms that will drive whichever speaker cabinet you desire. There's even a headphone output for late night practicing, so you can jam into the wee hours of the morning. Additional premium features include an FX LOOP for using external effects, and Master Volume and Gain controls. A 18V DC power supply Adapter  is included.

Cool little amp

Great low volume practice amp. Sounded good through my 115 as well as through headphones.

Hard to beat for the money.

Great little amp for practice or recording. When driven, it DOES resemble an SVT, at least enough to make me smile. Surprisingly musical for solid state. I run it through an SWR 12" in a sealed cabinet. Definitely worth Hotone making an upgraded version, say 15 watts?

Compact yet powerful

Compact yet powerful. Great for home studio or playing in tight spaces. Will connect to a house PA instead of a cab for extra portability.

This is a little beast. It sounds good with any combination of speaker cabs. There is a lot of tone shaping available, which allow you to tailor it to suit your needs. If you want to crank the drive you could probably even use it with a full band.

Just awesome

Just what I was looking for, and the sales rep. was spot on Thanks

I would buy this product again

I'm surprised at how much I like this little head. Signal to noise is fantastic. It's bone quiet. Active basses I plug in the back. Passive in the front. It even works well with my David Gage upright bass pickup, which is saying something. Tone wise, this is simply delicious. I'll go with a bigger head if I'm using a bigger cab but with this I can skip headphones and use a monitor box, instead.

Big Bang in a small package

This head replaced my "frankenhead" that was comprised of three units in a component case that sat on top of my amp and was at least a quarter of the size of my amp which is a Peavy half stack. Perfect for practicing and small venue use. I love it.

does the job

I'm doing some home recording and couldn't get the bass to sound right. I got this and I cant believe what a great warm sound I am getting. It's well worth the price.
