The Supro Blues King 12 combo amplifier captures the vintage Supro amp tone that helped sculpt the sound of early electric rock & roll and the British invasion of the 1960s. The "single-ended" Class-A tube power amp found in the Blues King provides the raw tonal characteristics and remarkable touch sensitivity of these mid-century combos, while delivering a full 15 watts of 6L6 tube power.

Front-end gain in the Blues King is supplied by a 12AX7 tube preamp and a FET-driven, fat boost function. In addition, the amp's high-gain mode uses a series of cascaded FETs to achieve face-melting levels of distortion and sustain. 3-band EQ and Master Volume controls join the footswitchable boost and gain functions to provide multiple layers of stackable overdrive for gigging, recording, and home practice.

The Blues King features a custom-made genuine analog spring reverb, plus an effects loop for pedals and a line output for recording or feeding to another amplifier. The vintage-inspired poplar wood cabinetry is based on the mid-'50s Comet model and comes loaded with a BK12 speaker. This custom-made, 12" driver was specifically designed to capture the magic of the original field-coil speakers used in American tube amps at the dawn of the electric era.

Blues King is King

There are times when you order something online and you don't know what to expect... Sometimes it's not very good or just OK. The Blues King is not that, it's a beautiful amp and has wonderful sound. With the foot pedal it's incredibly versatile and the line out provides easy recording... You can Daisy chain foot pedal as well. On board EQ and reverb are great... Not to mention this amp has an amazing retro look with a black pearl finish... And a tube amp at this price point is insane! I love my amp and absolutely recommended it.

Pedals? Who Needs Pedals?

Chasing tone is for many guitarists almost a religion. We try different guitars, different pickups, different amps and pedals, and we try them in every conceivable combination. One thing that few guitarists really give an ear to is the possibility of simplifying their signal chain and doing it the 'old way.' -With just a really, really good sounding amp and a guitar that meets their tonal preferences. The 'old way' is what the Supro Blues King 12 is all about. Yes, it has added, switchable, boost and gain circuits. And that may be a nice extra for now and then. But what this amp is really about is its natural in-your-face tone. Tone that is alive. Sensitive to your guitar's volume control and your picking technique. Its "clean" isn't really that. At least not in a sterile, hi-fi, sense. It is a voice filled with character and responsive in almost endless ways. Where does its magic come from? Is it the class "A" power stage? Is it the the custom speaker made for, and so far used only in, this particular amp? It is the superbly chosen tone controls that allow for sparkle or drive or rich jazzy sonarities? I think it is all three. Just that (with its smooth and full spring reverb. Add a bit of slapback echo or a touch of compression via it effects loop. Or add nothing and just play it for what it is. Younger players may discover something new. Older players may rediscover something they once knew and cherished. The later is what I did. Playing again as I did for entire seasons and, yes, studio sessions, "back when." In the `60s. Just me, a guitar and a beautifully voiced in-your-face amplifier. That's the Supro Blues King 12. Just so, so right!
