this set sounds great!. with the right choice heads you will get a beautiful dark loud tone from the mahogany wood. The color choices are very nice and classy. if you are a jazz cat or just prefer a 4 piece kit this is for you. it wont let you down. it only has 5 lug tuning system but I was able to get a really nice perfect tone out of each drum shell. So so happy with this set. I had Sam ash in Lombard special order these and they were nothing but helpful and knowledgeable. First off I was amazed at its huge thunderous tone right out of the box even with the less than great stock heads. I knew that once I put my choice heads on and tuned these up I'd be smitten. And I am. The 5 lug 12" Tom worried me with tuning but I assure you her and now it was a non issue. Same goes for the suspension mount. No tonal reduction(at least what I could notice) it still resonated beautifully and for days. The 14 " floor tom is a dreamy little sweetie. Tuned Low it's a force of might and tuned high it's an organic projection madman. I pretend I'm a classy guy with the understated walnut glaze. So there ya have it folks. Buy these or don't. But buy these and tell them you want these to take you back to 1963 by way of the future. In other words tell them you need a delorean to go with these and 1.21 jigawatts!
