One look at the Gibson Thunderbird and you know it's not your average bass. Unique and backed by the Gibson name, you can bet it plays like a champ. The Thunderbird features a reverse body design, resilient Gibson build, and dual T-Bird pickups. This bass is for the player that wants a unique and powerful instrument, from one of the most trusted bass builders in history.

Reverse Body Design
Introduced in 1963, the Thunderbird sported the first neck-through body design for a Gibson bass. It also did something most other basses didn't, and still haven't – reversed the direction of the body and headstock. This Thunderbird is crafted from Mahogany, with a rounded profile, 9-ply mahogany/walnut neck that runs through the body. This affords unparalleled sustain and warm bass tone.

Resilient Gibson Build
From top to bottom, the Thunderbird is crafted to be playable. The body shape may look unusual, but its curvy contours are still a comfortable fit. The rosewood fingerboard gives a smooth feel and is lined with 20 frets and acrylic dot inlays. It also sports a 3-point adjustable bridge. The reverse headstock has Grover bass key tuners, aligned 4-on-top. To top it all off, this bass showcases a Thunderbird symbol on the pickguard.

Dual T-Bird Pickups
The Thunderbird is known for its natural bass voice. You can credit its T-Bird pickups for that. Each pickup is voiced to fit the established style and sound of the Thunderbird. With 2 volumes and 1 tone knob, coupled with a three-way toggle switch, the Thunderbird is ready to rock.
