Being a resident of Michigan, I usually try to shop local to support my neighbor Michiganders. GHS makes it easy by producing great strings. I have tried many different brands of strings, as being a guitarist I will receive them as gifts from well intentioned family and friends. GHS in general, and these GHS Americana's specifically lead to fretting without regretting. The Americana can be bought in bulk as their individually, hermetically sealed strings do not tarnish and store well. They are listed as brighter than average, but there is subtle difference in warmth from the GHS phosphor bronze strings I usually put on my Ovation Legend deep body. As I have passed 50, I have switched from Medium to Light gauge strings, which are not quite as loud but easier to barre. This is my "campfire guitar" and it sees many different weather conditions in Northern Michigan, and GHS strings seem to consistently last quite a while longer compared to the Martin, D'Addario, or DR strings I have tried in the past.
