As a saxophone player, my embouchure was atrocious. I worked for two solid weeks with an older Selmer headjoint and could barely get any tone to speak. As soon as I tried a Gemeinhardt, I felt like I had a chance! The facing of the lip-plate and overall tone quality is far superior to other items in this price range, and makes for a more forgiving first few lessons. The 2SP is an excellent choice for the beginning flute player. A bit less expensive than other models at this level. The Gemeinhardt offers a warmer, meatier tone than a lot of other student flutes.

When I first started playing flute, this was the flute I started out on. I have been playing for years, and now that I am in highschool I use this flute for marching band. Its perfect for practicing or as a backup flute. Perfect for beginners. I would not recommend this to intermediate or advanced. Step it up a notch once you get passed those beginning stages.
