Long time bass player, first fretless. First of all, like all basses in the SR series from Ibanez it has an amazing neck. The active humbuckers sound great and gives it some good versatility. I really like that it has lines where the frets would be as a guide. It is well balanced and I haven't experienced any neck dive like on my Mustang. It is a little on the heavy side, but with a wide padded strap I don't notice it so much. The only issue I had is that it came with roundwound strings which don't really belong on a fretless. That isn't so much of a problem, but you can expect to throw another $30 onto the price to get it sounding right. I didn't think it was fair to mark the bass down for the strings though.

I played Carvin guitars for the lions share of the time I've been playing bass. I had yet to give fretless a try, but wanted the tone as part of my gear. My main bass will be fretted for now but what a welcome addition this Ibanez is! I add a chorus and tape wound nylon strings and the tone I was after is there. I may upgrade at a later date but right now I'm happy as can be.
