The body is constructed from Swamp Ash and features a Spalted Maple top. A translucent finish is applied; accentuating the beautiful grain pattern. The electronics configuration features dual active ESP designed humbucking bass pickups with a master volume, 3-Band EQ featuring Bass, Mid and Treble Boost/Cut controls, as well as a balance control to help you blend the pickups and find the tone that suits your style the best.

The neck is constructed from a 5 piece maple/rosewood and carved to an extra-thin profile and paired with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard for maximum ease and playability. The blacked out hardware includes set of ESP Tuners and an ESP BB-605 bridge with 5 individual saddles and strings-thru-body design for improved sustain. Case not included.

Excellent mid price fretless bass

I have previously owned three other brand fretless basses in the same price range. The ESP LTD B-205SMFL is by far the best one I have owned. With the 3 band EQ and pickup Balance control, you can get an enormous range in tone. You can adjust the EQ to sound low and full to bright and snappy. It even can do a passable upright like sound. The neck is a little wider than I like but it is a 5 string and has to be wider for the extra string. The full width fret markings would be a big bonus to a first time fretless player (contrary to what you see on the internet, place your fingers ON the fret marker, not behind it as your finger IS the fret.) The only complaint I have is the one I received had round wound strings and I feel a fretless should have flatwound strings to reduce neck wear, but that is an easy change. Buy one and play it. You will most likely enjoy it.

Truly Amazing bass

After playing for a few years, i decided to get a fretless. Being a broke college student, i couldn't really spend too much. When i found this bass, i was skeptical. However, it was the only 5 string fretless with the lines painted on for this price. When i got it I, along with my musician friends and band teachers, was awe struck. It's absolutely stunning! the neck is solidly implanted into the body, it has a great bridge, and the string-through mechanism makes it very easy to change the strings. It came with pretty good strings too! I use it daily for everything from jazz to classic rock to punk. It's perfect for walking, and if you put the pickup selector to the middle selection it has a killer slap sound. This bass is a must-have for anyone who wants a 5 string fretless that doesn't want to blow $2,000.
