Very sweet with speaker mod

If you need a smallish amp with the blackface sound, you will love this amp. The Tweeds sound nice and the vox is also impressive. You might as well buy a Eminence Ragin Cajun because you'll need it if you want this amp to sound professional. You can buy one with that speaker already installed. It will add gobs of lowend and will tame the highend sizzle. Just my opinion and a great ear for tone.

Great amp. I put a JBL in this puppy. Sounds good. The reverb works great, effects work good. I think this amp is goona be discontinued soon. Fender gonna focus on digital series I think.

I use this amp to play Pink Floyd, ACDC. and power ballads. Having a blast discovering new tones. This amp will make you smile ! She packs a lot of value for a reasonable price. Excellent hybrid amp. The Blackface clean channel is crystal clear. Just beautiful really.

Extreme versatile for a small amp

This amp is exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. It is actually significantly louder than I expected. I use it at home and a can't turn the Ch2 volume above 3 without it getting too loud for the living room. I love the sound of channel 1 when it's turned up (over 7), it gives it that classic tube sound. The Ch2 gain option give extra versatility. This alone made this amp great for me. If you add in the choices that the Voices and Effects options add, it's even more of a value.

I got this amp here at reverb.com. I had enough money left to immediately purchase a Celestion G10 and a genalex gold lion 12ax7 Russian version. The stock amp sounded really good out of the box with no mods no tube or speaker break in. First thing I changed was the speaker, I got a lot of round full tone there even without speaker break in, yet new speaker is still a little stiff. Soon after I changed the 12ax7 tube and my lord. Those two mods really juiced up this amp to the point where I love an amp to be. This was super important to my success, the fuse software! I use this amp on channel 1 mainly with a few pedals and with fuse I was able to adjust the mid range to my tastes. The amp channel 1 comes with bass ,treb and midrange at maximum. Way to brittle for me , so fuse softened that up nicely and I saved that preset to preserve my settings. With fuse software you'll be able to have way more parameter control, like midrange and presence, and effects too. Channel two is completely cool and even though I don't play live on chan 2 it's still very helpful for home playing. Now for loudness, 15 watts does keep up with my drummer and bassist and we play power trio stuff . I have no prob gigging with and mic it up for extra boost any way. I've learned the hard way by carrying absurdly heavy amps only to never get them to the sweet spot volume wise do to the deafening loudness. Small amp, hot tubes equals sweet tone. 24 pounds of love in the superchamp x2. One note on the preamp tube, I got a balanced triode 12ax7 since it actually does double duty as a phase inverter and preamp tube. I don't know if that made a difference but that tube really made this amp sing. I probably didn't need to do anything to the champ and would still enjoy it but now I love it. My two other amps are a princeton custom reverb and a champion 40, both are great, especially the Princeton which is my go to gig amp. Rock on people!

This amp has it all at an affordable price. I purchased the SCX2 a couple weeks back and after messing around with it I have found that this amp really covers a ton of ground. It takes a little bit of learning, but not so much that it is the least bit frustrating. Not for me, anyway, and I am far from a tech guru...Just the opposite, in fact...BUT I do know a great sounding amp when I hear one. I have played for 30+ years and I mostly play a Telecaster, but the versatility of this amp leads me to believe almost any decent guitar would sound very fine being played through it. I am still finding new tones everyday. The modeling channel is versatile as all get out, and offers a wide variety, along with the effects control. It is a lot of fun...I mic all my amps to a PA so the 15 watt size is perfect for me. It will hold its own in a small gig setting but mics up just fine for the bigger venues and has lush, warm tones, punching bottom and ringing highs. It is also 2 channels (another big selling point for me) and the $20 Fender foot switch is very nice to have, so my recommendation would be to plan on acquiring the foot switch also when you get this amp. Overall, it is everything you should expect when you purchase a Fender tube amp, and then some. It has a lot going for it. For the price I consider this amp a home run for Fender.

. . . compared this to an original Champ and a De Ville. The Fender X2 channel one has a lot of tone and power and can fill a small studio. This amp is true to the Fender sound and is a good bit more powerful than the original Champ. All said, it is no De Ville. De Ville's are in a class by themselves in terms of their ability to produce tremendous tone and power in a large room. Still the Fender sound of the X2 is consistent with it's Family heritage. The effects are excellent and easy to control. The emulations are also quite good but . . . I prefer channel run, the real deal. Highly recommended.

This is a great little amp. I would prefer the head, but as combo it is a tremendous practice / small gig amp. You can use the combo with an 8 ohm extension cabinet, but not two speakers simultaneously. I posted a lengthy review on the head version of this amp here on Sam Ash's site. If you want to know what this amp CAN do, search on-line. It is an exceptional value, and though a bit pricey for a beginner, it is one that will meet growing expectations up to gigging pro...with the addition of a good speaker. I can't see anyone (with a working knowledge of guitar amps) that would not love this little fella. It proudly sits right next to my vintage tube amps and about $4,000 worth of Fractal Audio modeling rig (which I also love). I tend to play the Super Champ more than anything, ever since it found its way to my home studio.
