Fender Rumble 40

Amazing little bass amp. I play in a concert band and use this amp for my bass. It has a great low end and works great with my guitars too. I did some research on the various bass amps in this price range and the Rumble was an excellent choice. Very happy with the amp. I would recommend this amp without hesitation.

Great for my purpose

Use for my solo-duo rig for bass/drum backing track and keyboard. Plenty loud enough for small - medium venues that we do. Sam Ash was very good on this purchase.

The sweet, sweet spot for practice

This little amp is plenty loud for practice or rehearsal, but it also provides excellent clean, overdriven and scooped tones. The aux input and headphone jack make it versatile for playing at home. You will not grow tired of its sound palette! All this and XLR out.

One of the best small amps.

I recently bought a Fender T-bucket bass. When I tried it out through an amp, the sales guy set me up on a Fender Rumble 40. I almost couldn't believe the sound that was coming out of this small, light amp. It was very clean and deep with all controls set flat. It is loud for 40 watts; don't judge an amp just by its wattage. It's also very light, so you'll look forward to bringing it to wherever it is you jam or gig. I have other basses, and they all sound great through this amp. The tone is warm, and clean. The tone controls are well-voiced, and the drive and level controls add a nice touch if you play with them a little. The Rumble 40 is probably the best value for tone, and portability in a practice or small gig amp. Buy one!

The Little Amp That Can!

WOW! The Fender Rumble 40 is great. I just can't believe the big sound I'm hearing from this little amp. I must admit that I was very skeptical. When I picked it up for the first time, I almost sent it through the ceiling of the music store. It's so light! Some of the amps I've owned before weighted fifty pounds or more. This thing weighs in at 18 lbs. You won't hurt your back with this one. Then I thought, "CHEAP!!!" No bass amp this light can sound good. Well, I was wrong. It sounds amazing! The effects that are built into it really work and will give you plenty of tonal flexibility. It's rated at 40 watts but trust me, it's loud and deep. What's way more important (to me anyway) is that the sound is CLEAN! No hissing or buzzing or anything. Not even a pop. It's a great practice amp. Just plug in a set of headphones and your favorite music device and you're good to go. Something else I like is the built in XLR output. Plug it in to a sound system and your drummer will have to work hard to keep up with you. The only concern I have about this amp has nothing to with the amp itself but the packaging. Some reviewers have commented on this and now I know why. The cardboard is thin and the only thing keeping it from being damaged are the styrofoam corner supports. Don't get me wrong, my amp didn't have a scratch on it when I opened it (thank goodness). I'm just advising you to be mindful. I'm still gonna give it 5 stars because the amp is certainly worth it and more. I'm very happy with my new Fender Rumble 40. It's truly is a sweet amp and you get a lot for you money. Go ahead and get one. You won't be sending it back.

Incredible tone

I have an Ibanez AEB5 acoustic bass. By itself, it is not very loud and the tone is lacking, especially at the high end. Plugged in to this amp, you wouldn't even know you were playing a cheap acoustic bass. The Vintage setting is awesome. With the EQ flat on the amp and on the bass, just engaging the Vintage option gives you the warmest tone you could ever imagine from an amp this size. I've used it at a small gig with two acoustic guitars (not plugged in) and a percussionist playing a couple of loud djembes. Volume on the bass was about 30%, gain on the amp was at 12 o'clock and the master volume was about 10 o'clock. It was plenty loud enough for all to hear. With the XLR output, you could plug in to your PA (provided it could handle the low freq's) and use this amp as your monitor. The only problem is, the XLR output is post-EQ and volume, meaning, whatever levels you set on the amp are going to the PA, so the more you turn it up to hear yourself, the louder you're going in the mix. All in all though, a very impressive unit. Fender has it going on with the V3 Rumbles.

Lightweight Rumble

This amp delivers a real kick while remaining light and portable. The quality and clarity is amazing for a lightweight amp. Need more muscle in your sound? Look no further, as this fella includes overdrive for that extra push. The ease of moving makes it perfect for home practice and smaller gigs and performances. Nice for small cafes

This is a great bass amp. At 40 watts it is great for practicing in your room and even for playing in small cafes. Packs a lot of punch in a small package. A must have for any bassist. This is a hands-on product review by Tamir @ Sam Ash Edison
