The Fender American Professional Precision Bass displays perfection in its simplistic and well-designed craftsmanship. As a staple of the Fender line-up, this bass has been made with the utmost attention to detail for decades and withstands the test of time. Featuring a time-tested design, American professional appointments, and a Michael Bump-designed V-Mod split-coil Precision Bass pickup, this bass is for the modern player who wants a great all-around sound.

Time-Tested Design
Fender certainly knows how to innovate, but they also know what works. Their solid designs are always based on the time-tested craftsmanship that got them this far. This bass was cut from alder and sports a maple '63 P-Bass neck profile. Considered by many to be as good as it gets, this neck is smooth and sleek, allowing for easy movement up and down the 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. In addition, the American Professional Precision Bass has narrow-tall frets, white dot inlays and a bone nut for a superior, organic sound.

American Professional Appointments
The American Professional Precision Bass has Posiflex graphite rods beneath the fingerboard to prevent movement that can occur with environmental changes and travel. It's also got a 4-saddle HiMass vintage bridge for increased stability in tuning and intonation. The fluted-shaft tuning machines are wider at the bottom than the top, which makes the string windings move downward, keeping them tight and secure.

Michael Bump-Designed V-Mod Split-Coil Precision Bass pickup
V-Mod pickups are sweet. Loaded with the Fender bass sound you know and love, these V-Mod pickups, designed by Michael Bump, are modified versions of a vintage classic pickup design. They use an alnico 5 on the treble side, while the bass pickup is an alnico 2. Together they retain vintage low-end tone and give you awesome, smooth sound.

Great new series

The Fender P-Bass has been a staple instrument for bass players for over 60 years. This year Fender came out with the Professional series and it does not disappoint. Biggest changes are the new V-mod split coil pickups which adds a nice balance of classic tone with modern punch and the new warp resistant graphite rod that will low you to keep your bass neck intonated for many years to come.

By which all others are measured!

This is it, all the tone heard on countless recordings. I put this through an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro with a 2x10 and 1x15 cabinet for both thump and clarity, and it absolutely rocks. I have a Standard MIM Jazz bass with Seymour Duncan upgraded pickups and the stock ones on the American Professional Series blew me away. No need to upgrade, this one is ready to rock all stock.

Really cool P Bass blending vintage and modern perfectly

5

The new line of American Professional instruments from Fender is truly remarkable. This P Bass incorporates features of vintage and modern basses and merges them perfectly into this great package. They've taken the '63 P bass neck shape, put in a redesigned P Bass pickup, better break angle for the strings, bone nut, a higher mass bridge, great hard case, a myriad of finishes to suit any player, etc. Out of the box this instrument requires little to become a great player. Oftentimes on a lot of Fender P and J basses I find myself swapping bridges, pickups, installing a bone nut, etc to really hone it into something special. But fender has taken a lot of the guess work out and just really packaged a lot of bang for the buck in this. It's a great playing and sounding instrument that will last you a lifetime.

I have always been a fan of the Jazz bass, but I picked this up the other day and it has that really nice 60's neck that I love. The split coil pickups are nice and well balanced (much like the feel of the bass as well) and adding to that the truss rod is graphite which helps with that as well. Overall, I am impressed ,for once, by a P bass
