An eye-catchingly adventurous design—an exquisite exercise in chrome, plastic and wood—the Jaguar guitar's delightfully off-kilter aesthetics and unique sound made it a darling of underground artists from the '70s to today. Though it was the pinnacle of guitar technology when it was released in 1962, time (and technology) marches on so Fender updated the Jaguar with modern features and materials, hot-rodding it for today's players. The result? The American Professional Jaguar—a dangerous instrument with bite.

Developed by Michael Frank, the V-Mod Jaguar pickup design expands the guitar's sonic palette with hot, vintage-informed tone delivering plenty of midrange punch and definition. Retain high end clarity when adjusting the volume control, thanks to the treble-bleed tone circuit that lets your tone shine through in all its glory. The modern "Deep C"-shaped neck profile feels just right in your hand while the narrow-tall frets make it easy to bend strings accurately and play perfectly intonated chords. The improved tremolo and bridge incorporate a screw-in arm and brass Mustang saddles that stabilize the strings while adding a touch of sonic zip to your tone.

The best of yesterday and today, the American Professional Jaguar is the latest form of electric inspiration from Fender. Step up and stake your claim to a legend.

Surprisingly Versatile & Unique

When it came time to buy my first real made-in-USA guitar, I never considered a Jaguar. I just happened to be sitting near one at Sam Ash Hollywood when I was getting tired of the Strats and Teles that didn't really excite me. I reached over and picked up the Jag just for fun, and something about it felt right. The body shape and short scale is just plain fun. And I'm a tall, big dude, so don't think that a Jaguar is only for small people. There are 6 different pickup positions (a 4-way selector switch and a toggle switch that affects two of the positions). They are all usable and sound great. I'm on the neck pickup most of the time but I switch around a lot. It probably can't do super high-gain metal too well but it handles punk and some old-school metal fine. The whole guitar just feels NICE. And the olympic white finish with the black pickguard has this nice goth rock vibe; great for playing stuff like The Cure. I did have to get it set up for .11 gauge strings. I think they come with 9s which were way too light for me. But the tuning is pretty stable and I use the whammy bar frequently.

A cool Jagaur with improved switching!

This is Fender making thing easier to understand. For a long time, individuals would always as how all of the switches worked on the Jaguar. Now it has been simplified with one slider switch and a 4 way selector for the pickups. You still get all of the col Jaguar sounds. plus the new colors are just stellar. This guitar is especially good for people who enjoy shorter scale necks for improved chording. Plus it has a TSA approved case as part of the deal.
