When it came time to buy my first real made-in-USA guitar, I never considered a Jaguar. I just happened to be sitting near one at Sam Ash Hollywood when I was getting tired of the Strats and Teles that didn't really excite me. I reached over and picked up the Jag just for fun, and something about it felt right. The body shape and short scale is just plain fun. And I'm a tall, big dude, so don't think that a Jaguar is only for small people. There are 6 different pickup positions (a 4-way selector switch and a toggle switch that affects two of the positions). They are all usable and sound great. I'm on the neck pickup most of the time but I switch around a lot. It probably can't do super high-gain metal too well but it handles punk and some old-school metal fine. The whole guitar just feels NICE. And the olympic white finish with the black pickguard has this nice goth rock vibe; great for playing stuff like The Cure. I did have to get it set up for .11 gauge strings. I think they come with 9s which were way too light for me. But the tuning is pretty stable and I use the whammy bar frequently.
