So I pulled the trigger on the Original, the black and white striped. I know the original didn't have a Floyd but I'm sure if it would have been available at the time EVH would have had it on there! It's the only one with a pick guard too, the true nod to the Fender origin. (And Fender makes this one too!) The quality is impressive for an $800 guitar. Depending on the volume knob setting the sound from the Wolfgang direct mounted pickup can go from crackling, searing distortion (like the Rhythm part on the 2nd RUnnin' with the Devil solo/break) to cleanish thick tones like intro to Drop Dead Legs. The tuning pegs are tight and smooth, the Floyd Rose system smooth. Although I hadn't used one since the mid eighties, I forgot what a pain new strings and a FLoyd are! I stretched them out and tuned up, now it's bombs away and back into tune. The drop-D "DTuna" actually works well too for songs like Unchained and Drop Dead Legs etc. Only mod I'll make is to remove the strap pegs and put in screw-eyes! It's an honorable salute to the legacy of Eddie Van Halen.
