The Viper-10 is a beautifully-made instrument. It's my first 24-fret guitar. I bought it with the intention of keeping it tuned to D standard. The tuners are superior and the ax stays in tune very well; one can feel how solid the tuners are, and though they are a bit uneven when being turned, they never slip. The pick-ups are hot and easily give a rich, saturated distortion when overdriven. I am playing high up on the neck with more ease than I ever have before. The only issue I ran into after I brought it home was in changing the strings to a heavier gauge in order to down-tune it. The nut slot for the sixth string proved too thin for a 0.46 gauge string, not to mention the 0.52 I eventually put on. I was obliged to file out the nut, which was easy enough, and I've had no problems since. Overall, a fantastic value, and though it's priced in the beginner range, this 20-year veteran plans to hold onto this instrument for many years to come.
