Not bad for the price but not great

I bought a left handed version from here a couple of years ago. There was an issue right away and Sam Ash was good enough to ship out a replacement free. This is not a bad guitar but there were some issues that I had to take care of first. Luckily after 35 years playing ice picked up a few tricks. She needed a set up first but that's too be expected at this price range. Also the bridge pickup was routed slightly crooked and off center. I had to drill and fill the holes and move stuff around. By the way all the screws in this guitar are made from very soft cheap metal and strip easily (I was using a set of precision gunsmith screwdrivers too). The plastics seemed to have actually expanded a bit, I've had to sand down the edges to make them fit instead again of bowing out. The bar holding down the strings behind the nut wasn't down far enough and the guitar would go sharp when tightening down the locks, but the holes were already drilled down far so I had to cut off the tips of the screws. The edges of the frets were sticking out far, they were never finished (you have to save money somewhere) so I had to do all that work myself. I also replaced the pickups but the original ones are all right. A beginner wouldn't have noticed these things and it's a good guitar but if you have a little knowledge and a workshop you can tune it nicely.

Great feel, pickups could use an upgrade

As many others have said this guitar has a great feel for the price. Pickups aren't horrible but they aren't great either.

This is my Drop D guitar. Humbucker is nice, singles flat out suck. These are active pickups and don't hold a candle to EMG. SOOO in a minute it will get (2) EMG SA and 1 EMG 60. Talking with EMG I have a package deal set up. These are active. The SA has louder preamp that will fit in with the 60. Thus all pickups will produce the same output. This is a huge problem FIXED by EMG. Play one youll see. When done this will be a great guitar.

I am an at home musician who has been recording my own songs about a decade now. I play a variety of instruments, but Guitar has been my primary instrument for most of my musical career. I have a decent acoustic and have an awesome Ibanez GIO model that is a solid jamming and recording guitar, but I wanted to upgrade to something a little more versatile. This fit the bill after a little researching. The Floyd Rose system is solid, the neck has a great feel and plays quickly, the 24 frets is another added bonus, and on a more personal note... I very much enjoy the quilted blue stain on the body and headstock. After playing it for about two-three weeks now... I am pleased. I may at some point upgrade the pick-ups, as some other reviewers on other sites had mentioned, but it's no immediate concern. The neck pick-up is decent, but isn't spectacular. Besides that.... no other draw backs so far for me. I have played it in two tunings as well, standard initially then to drop C, and it played well in both tunings.

I bought this model 2 years ago to play in a classic rock/prog rock band. I needed the versatility and I had a few manufacturer choices that made very similar models right down to the pickup config. I didnt really think it would be much different from the other makers. Boy was I wrong. first thing was the carved top. its like having a fat strat sound option with a LP or PRS body feel. second, the Floyd Rose held up better than ones featured on other competitors. third, it had a significantly 'easier' neck, compared to its similar competitors. It wasnt as flat as some of the jackson and Ibanez RG wizard necks. Iv'e played both jacksons and Ibanez guitars and they are GREAT guitars, so Im not taking anything away from them. but the LTD performed better and is definatly in a league with some of its high end counterparts. don't be afraid to plug it in just because of its humble retail tag. it will suprise you. Great product for the price.

Great Guitar!

I've used this guitar for about 6 years and the sound quality is great! For a good heavy distortion sound I would recoment useing this guitar with a Peavey Amp. Although I have to say, when over the years when playing on clean it starts to have a buzz when i switch settings on the pickup switch. but over all its a very good guitar that stays in tune no matter how crazy you get on the wammy! And its got a nice D neck for good rythem or lead playng.
