I've been playing classic rock for sixteen years on a Peavey Wolfgang and thought it was my baby until my wife bought me the Prophecy GX about 5 months ago; now the Prophecy is my true love. I'm a tone hound, and the Prophecy is all tone. My main amp is the EVH 5150 111 combo, and with the Prophecy plugged into it, rock never sounded so good. This guitar sounds warm and the high notes sing, but with some gain it can be explosive and squeal when you want it brutal. I've taken this guitar on a serious test drive, and it holds up perfectly. I would not change a fraction of it anywhere, including the solid body instead of having weight relief. So, if you're concerned about it comparing to a Gibson--it absolutely sounds every bit like a Gibson because it is the real deal, including Gibson pick-ups. And the ease in playing all the way up the neck by how the neck and body are attached two frets higher is a huge plus. Side note: The Prophecy is more beautiful in person than any photo can capture. I was shocked when I opened the case and saw this gorgeous guitar waiting for me to hold and caress.
