Tony Iommi is every guitar player's hero. He's not just the "lead guitarist" of Black Sabbath. He is Black Sabbath.  Black Sabbath was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 but he's been every shredder's idol since Black Sabbath's debut in 1970. For 45 years as the band's heart and soul and the originator of dozens of all-time classic riffs, Tony Iommi has helped to make the "SG" the iconic guitar for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Now, Epiphone presents a one-of-a-kind SG designed exactly to Tony Iommi's specifications.

A classic guitar reinvented for the "Godfather of Heavy Metal", Epiphone is proud to introduce the Limited Edition Tony Iommi Signature SG Custom. Designed by Iommi himself, the Limited Edition Tony Iommi SG Custom comes loaded up with premium features that have been selected by the legendary guitarist including Gibson USA Tony Iommi Signature Humbuckers, a 24-fret ebony fingerboard with custom inlays, a sleek, sexy ebony gloss finish, and more!

The Epiphone Limited Edition Tony Iommi Signature SG Custom sports that time-tested double-horned mahogany body, and comes handsomely dressed with a gloss ebony finish and a 3-ply black/white/black pickguard. It features a glued-in, deep-set neck joint with a smooth transition heel for exceptional player comfort and easy access to the lead zone. Carved into Epiphone's popular 1960s SlimTaper D shape, the 24.75"-scale mahogany neck offers a classic SG feel while the ebony fingerboard carries medium jumbo frets, an adjustable truss rod, and a black graphite nut for superb playability and performance. The fingerboard also boasts white binding and pearloid "Cross" inlays that were designed by Iommi himself. The front of the headstock bears that legendary Epiphone script logo in pearloid along with an old-school "pineapple" inlay that's reminiscent of the '60s. The back of the headstock showcases a reproduction of Tony's signature in silver silkscreen and an Epiphone Limited Edition logo. A bell-shaped truss rod cover caters to the classic appeal.

At Tony's request, the Epiphone Limited Edition Tony Iommi Signature SG Custom comes fitted with a pair of his powerful Gibson USA Tony Iommi Signature Humbuckers. The first Signature Series pickups offered by Gibson, the Tony Iommi Signature Humbuckers utilize both Alnico II and Ceramic magnets that feature special windings to provide unparalleled sustain and shred-approved tone. The pickups are wired through a classic SG control layout, which consists of an all-metal 3-way pickup selector with a black toggle cap and 2 Volume/2 Tone controls with vintage-style Black "Top Hat" knobs.

The Epiphone Limited Edition Tony Iommi Signature SG Custom comes equipped with high-performance, rock-solid nickel hardware including a rim-mounted heavy-duty chrome metal jack plate, a set of premium die-cast tuners with a 14:1 ratio and metal tulip buttons, and a classic pairing of a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece for unmatched sustain, performance and reliability.

The Epiphone Limited Editiom Tony Iommi Signature SG Custom comes complete with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity, a binder, and a photograph.

Nearly Perfect...I would definitely replace it!

Let me say this up front, Tony Iommi is the guy who made me first want to play guitar so this axe is a dream come true! Cosmetic: Perfect, they nailed the crosses and all other inlays. The finish is beautiful (none more black!) Setup: Out of the box it was not setup at all, had a buzzing A string, and the nut that holds the bridge pickup volume knob was totally loose. All easily fixable if you know your way around a guitar...but the buzzing would be especially frustrating to a player not yet comfortable changing their own setup. Pickups: Outstanding! First thing I did was change my strings to similar gauges Tony uses for his downtuned C# tuning (42-32-22w-12-9-9). Even using such a light string gauge set these high output pickups still scream. Hardware: Another thing that drops the rating to 4 instead of 5 stars. I hated the tuners...they felt light and sloppy and with downtuning such light gauges to C# I wanted tuners that were solid and accurate. I replaced them with Gotoh locking tuners and it feels great now. Certificate of Authenticity: This is very cool and comes in a fancy folding cover. Signed by Tony and the president of Epiphone. Limited Edition? Well, originally in 2015 Epi advertised this as a limited edition run of 2000 (250 lefties). After checking my serial number it was built in August of 2019 and had a serial number much higher than 2,000. I think it's an accepted fact among Epiphone SG players that this was a very popular instrument and Epi made a lot more than 2,000 since 2015. I'd be happy if someone could prove me wrong, but I'm pretty sure on this. Personally, I don't care if they made 2,000 or 200,000, I love this guitar! Conclusion: If you're into Tony Iommi and want to get as close as possible to his sound, this is a fantastic guitar. If you're not an Iommi fan but still want a downtuned doom metal machine, this also fits that bill!

Great feel but guitar strap knob is not mounted on back

Great Guitar

OK, the guitar was not set up. It was terrible sounding, and buzzing ... but after changing and raising the strings, adjusting the pick ups and doing pentatonic it sounded totally different! Just should've probably done the set up before shipping. Otherwise they included strap guards and even directions for setting it up! So it's a beautiful guitar. I had it sent to my friend and he's the one who told me about the things he had to do to make it fantastic.

Great experience

The team at Sam Ash was very helpful and provided a great experience.

Guitar sounds great. Not a high end Gibson but well worth the money at less than half the price. As good as it sounds it is just as beautiful to view. It's becoming one of my favorite guitars in my collection. If you are a fan of Tony Iommi this guitar will not disappoint.

Sam Ash goes Extra Mile - Happy with purchase.

Cool to have. Action good. Picks great. Leaves some black residue on fingers from fret board it seems Happy with purchase. Most mention Sam Ash made an extra effort to find one for me. Very appreciative of their service.

Coolest SG ever

I've had mine over a year now and I'm still like a kid with a new toy. I'm going to wear out the latches on the case because I get it out every day. Witch BTW is my only complaint, that it didn't come with it's own custom case. The Epiphone G-400 case is perfect for it however & I lucked out and got mine on sale (yay!). The guitar is a dream come true for me. It's something I always wanted but could never afford the more expensive Gibson model. The earlier Epiphone version was not like the real thing, but this one is. Definitely the coolest guitar I've ever had. SG has always been my favorite guitar & Tony my favorite SG player. Get one while you can, you'll be glad you did.
