Sounds and plays like a Les Paul
I play in a praise band. I put the magnetic pickups through my DV Mark 212 tube amp (a hidden gem!) and the nanomag pickup through my Fishman Loudbox Mini. This guitar is perfect for classic rock. The Epiphone Probuckers sound great and they are easy to dial in. The nanomag is a bit harder to dial in, but it's great once you do. Onboard tuner is an excellent idea - it's not on the headstock, but on the bridge pickup ring. It's unobtrusive and works fine. Neck is straight, no fret buzz, and intonation was spot-on right out of the box. A real winner from Epiphone.
I play in my praise band at church. Magnetic pickups go to a tube amp (DV Mark 212) and the nanomag goes to my Fishman Loudbox Mini. The Epiphone Probuckers sound great clean, but they really shine when you push them a bit - these pickups hold their own own, and then some. The nanomag pickup produces very workable acoustic tones. Factory set up was excellent and intonation was spot-on. Straight neck. No fret buzz. Excellent construction. Good looking - not me, the guitar! I am not kidding. This guitar is, hands-down, one of the best values for the money I have ever seen.
I ordered the Vintage Sunburst LP Ultra III from Sam Ash about two months ago and I honestly could not be happier with my experience (especially since there was no shipping cost or sales tax)! The order status updated quickly which made tracking it easy, set up was spot on (minus some slight tuning adjustments), came in the original box with all the info as well. The Vintage Sunburst finish was so much nicer looking on the Ultra III compared to the LP Standard Plus Top Pro's - the lighter color sweeps up higher above the pickgaurd and IMO makes it look much slicker! The satin finsh neck is a pleasure to play on as your hand just flows up and down it with ease. The built in tuner is actually REALLY great, it works like a champ, is dead on, and is so quick and easy to use I haven't used any others since!! Tones are great on this guy too!! The addition of the NanoMag pickup gives off some really crisp, bright, and twangy tones; couple that with the ProBucker's warm and goey goodnes and it's endless what you can come up with! One thing I found regarding the NanoMag pickup controls on the back of the guitar was setting the gain about 3/4, treble to about 2/3, and bass to about 1/2'ish gives a really nice "acoustic" tone. I had purchased an Epiphone Les Paul Standard PlusTop Pro prior to this guy (ended up returning it) and I have got to say that I am 100% firmly satisfied with paying the addition money for the Les Paul Ultra III. The chamber body lightens up the traditional "bulky" feeling of a traditional Les Paul, and the cut away on the right side of the body (that rests against your abdomen while seated and playing) makes for an extremely comforatble guitar as well! If I could change one thing about the Ultra III it would be to include the "Push/Pull" Coil Spliting that the Standard PlusTop Pro had, beyond that, the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III is perfect! My only advice is to be careful when removing the 9v battery cover on the back for the NanoMag as the plastic it is made of isn't super strong.
can´t say much about this guitar.. GREAT!!!!!
