Epiphone's long friendship with innovator Les Paul dates back to the late '30s and early '40s when Les, working at night at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York City, created one of the world's first solidbody electric guitars, “The Log.” Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone luthiers reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. Now, the Epiphone Les Paul “Tribute” Plus honors our friendship with Les by combining his classic design features with legendary Epiphone quality and value with the added feature of Gibson USA ’57 classic humbuckers.

The Epiphone Tribute Les Paul features a solid Mahogany back with a solid, carved hard Maple cap to create the ultimate combination of warmth and bite. The solid mahogany neck with a hand-fitted, glued-in joint extends well into the neck pickup cavity, creating maximum neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. Combined with the Mahogany/Maple body, the result is a tribute to Les' timeless guitar design with the sound that you can only get from a Les Paul.

Capturing all the power and nuances of the "Tribute's" tonewoods is a pair of authentic Gibson USA '57 Classic humbucker pickups. With their "Patent Applied For" decal on the base plate, the '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus are faithful replicas of the famous PAF Gibson humbuckers created by Seth Lover that helped define the "Les Paul" sound. The '57 Classic gives you a tone that is warm and subtle with full, even response that doesn't hold back when you need that classic Gibson humbucker crunch! The '57 Classic Plus is the perfect bridge pickup and mimics humbuckers from the late '50s that often received a few extra turns of wire. This treatment gives the pickup a slightly higher output without sacrificing its rich, vintage tone. When combined, these humbuckers overdrive tube preamps to a smooth level of saturation without becoming overpowering. Both '57s Classic humbuckers feature Gibson's special Alnico II magnets, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and vintage-style braided wiring. But this Les Paul is not just about recreating the "old”, it's also about looking ahead, just as Les himself continued to do throughout his lifetime. Using 4-conductor pickup wiring, Epiphone has added two push/pull tone pots to allow for series/parallel pickup switching. The result gives you a Les Paul with all the legendary sounds plus a huge palette of tonal possibilities at your fingertips.

Other upgrades include a USA Switchcraft 3-way toggle, Mallory-150 tone capacitors, Epiphone StrapLocks, 18:1 ratio premium Grover 106 Series Locking Rotomatic machine heads, and a premium hard case.

needed extensive set-up

It's like a box of chocolates, unfortunately the Les Paul I received needed extensive rework to alleviate extreme fretting out as it was totally unplayable. I returned it to my local Sam Ash outlet for replacement. The good news is that my replacement is cherry and I'm very happy with Sam Ash for their excellent service, and for that I added an extra star.

Fantastic buy.

This guitar is what todays Gibson Les pauls should be. This will put a Gibson LP studio to shame any day of the week. Fit and finish are perfect, it was close to set up straight out of the box, and not a spot on it. The 59s are everything they are supposed to be, clear treble without being harsh (ice pick like) and the mids and lows have great clarity and warmth. I"m very pleased with this guitar.

I would buy this guitar again, exceptional guitar.

I am middle of road as far as skill but I really like the neck on this guitar, the tones from the Gibson 57 Classic pickups are great for my favorite music, classic rock. Stays in tune, looks and feels great. Friends who are advanced level musicians really liked this when they played

Just as great as a real Gibson and Ive owned two studios.

This axe is the real deal. Ive been playing for twenty five years and this is the best guitar that Ive ever had. Its so clean yet so heavy. I play blues rock and metal. These pick ups do it all. Great sustain and harmonics. I was sceptical after owning Usa Gibsons and Fenders but this guitar surprised me alot! I couldnt be happier. Great dynamics when rolling the controls and tone for days. This is a tone beast! Thanks SamAsh for price matching too. Got a smoking deal.

I`ve owned this guitar for a few months. I`m a 20+ year pro guitarist. I have owned the best money can buy and I`m here to tell you people, do NOT turn your nose up at this guitar. It is and I mean IS, my favorite guitar that I have ever owned. Ive owned various Gibson Les Paul models and played through the best Gibson has to offer. Ive also owned Fender Strats and Teles and again, the best they had to offer. This guitar belongs right up there on top because of a few key reasons. First, TONE.. This thing can get as muddy and nasty as the Gibson Les Paul or as bright and jingly as the Strat. Thats what amazed me really, that it can sound so closely to a Strat and absolutely sounds as good or better than any Gibson Les Paul Ive ever owned. Second, Playability,...It can be set up to suite your style without losing a thing. third QUALITY,...The beauty is amazing and they used the best of the best parts to put this guitar together including `57 Classic pups, Locking Grover Tuners, Switchcraft 3 position selector and the internal capacitor and wiring are also top notch. Go ahead and pass it up if you want, but Im here to tell ya, BUY IT

Remarkable guitar!

Let me start by saying that this is the best deal I think you will find for a above average les Paul. I only give it a four star rating because it could be better. To start off, this rig is beautiful! It is remarkable how much better it looks in person. As soon as I saw it, I fell in love. There are some who knock the epiphone series les Paul's for their paint jobs but I would have to say this is the exception. I bought the faded cherry model and it is stunning. Next is the performance.this guitar simply screams! If you are looking for a smooth blues guitar with remarkable tone, this is not for you. While it does have a great tone, make no mistake it is a rock and metal type tone if there is such a thing. These Gibson 57's have some pop. Exactly what I have been looking for. If you want more tone I would recommend a custom pro or maybe even a prophecy gs. These pick ups have some serious power. However, with the coil tapping they are versatile. It is by no means a one trick pony. Further more the sustain on this axe is amazing. It holds notes for 15-18 seconds and then some. With the tune-o-matic set up and these pick ups it is a match made in heaven. I would say I am more of a beginner/intermediate guitar player but this would be a suitable fit for more than that. There are many very accomplished artists that I know who have played this guitar and it comes highly recommended. It does everything I need and want a guitar to do. The only things that need to be done to the guitar are some minor adjustments. When I got it I filed down the nut as it was burying the strings on the neck. I made a minor truss bar adjustment to it and lowered the action too. I also suggest checking the intenation. Once those are addressed it plays even better than it looks. I will never part with this guitar!!!

I have never played an Epiphone that I liked. I went into the store to pick out the Gibson LP that I wanted to save up for. The guy at the counter convinced me to try a few Epi's which i did and did not care for. Then I saw this one behind the counter and thought, What the heck, why not. This guitar is sweet for the value. It comes with really nice electronics and plays extremely well. I planned on buying a $2000 guitar and instead fell in love with this Epi. In my opinion, if we were to rank a Gibson Les paul Standard a 10/10.... this guitar is an 8/10... for nearly a quarter of the price. Well worth it for anyone on a budget.

LP 60s Tribute Plus.... a value !

They packed all the good features into one LP that has a slenderized neck (back is slightly flattened), a pair of '57 real Gibson pickups, both coil tapped at the tone controls, Grover heavy chromed locking low ratio tuners, good hardware, very nice finish and detailing. Epi case is nice, too. And budget priced! But does it sound good? Mine has been into a Blues Junior and now my upgraded 70s Silverface Princeton Reverb. If you are a clean tone guy (Strats, Teles, P90 guitars), this HB equipped guitar may be your friend... With or without the coil cut engaged, you get very pleasing alnico magnets in a quality Gibson pickup set. The bridge alone is nearly like a P90 in clean and powerful edgy, searing tone. The neck is a bit 'woofy' on the bass side. Lower that side and raise the E and A polepieces about 2 turns up to help. No need to change tone caps; they used good Mallory capacitors. I am not a Les Paul fan, but this is one of the few I ever really enjoyed handling. And it does sound really good and is versatile: country, blues, rock, rock and roll.... it can do all this and more. I once owned a vintage Greco LP, and this Tribute sounds better and is prettier, but heavier. Clean the frets after shielding the fretboard with ultra fine polishing paper. Wipe down the fretboard lightly with boiled linseed oil or even FastFret (scented light mineral oil) to richen its look and help the wood maintain its moisture. Keep a small damp sponge in the case hatch all the time to humidify all the woods. This is not a cheap, shabby, half-baked guitar. This is a really good guitar for modest money and fully the equal of most any Gi**** at a thousand or 700 more. Go play this Tribute Plus and hear and feel it for yourself. Get a luthier to adjust the action (relief, nut slots, saddles height and intonation) and you are done! .009-.042 is a good set... especially the new Ernie Ball Cobalt strings... wow!

Its everything I expected

Thanks to Paul W for all his assistance and going that extra distance to make the sale.I am totally satisfied with this guitar. As soon as I opened the box I could see the quality. As I have found with all Epiphones, some adjustments were needed but most were for my own style of playing. What a combination of workmanship and a slew of excellant standard features-most important the Gibson 57 pups but by far that the only things. Heavy but as expected. All this and a case included!!! Least I forget the quick shipping. I ordered on a Wednesday and Fedex delivered on Friday morning and this was FREE!!! Again, Thanks Sam Ash direct and Paul W.
