The Epiphone Les Paul SL Electric Guitar is the most affordable, dual-pickup Les Paul ever made, making it the ideal choice for the budding rocker!

Featuring a slim, lightweight single-cutaway poplar body and a fast SlimTaper bolt-on neck with a classic 24.75" scale length, the Epiphone Les Paul SL is incredibly comfortable to play and hold, and will feel right at home in your fretting hand.

Equipped with a pair of great-sounding Epiphone single-coil pickups, the Les Paul SL offers incredibly sonic versatility that makes this guitar a great choice for a wide range of genres and playing styles. The 650SCR neck pickup is great for rhythm playing, while the slightly overwound 700SCT bridge pickup is perfect for lead and solos. The ceramic magnets used in the pickups were made to deliver tight lows, smooth mids, and slightly more pronounced trebles, which makes them ideal for heavier genres like hard rock or metal.

Chrome Epiphone-designed hardware includes an adjustable, intonated "Wrap Around" stopbar bridge along with a set of accurate premium 14:1 ratio tuners. Additional appointments include Epiphone's signature  "Clipped Ear" headstock design, a vintage-inspired "Bell-Shaped" truss rod cover, a '60s-era Epiphone logo, and a special 2017 Edition logo on the back of the headstock.

$99-$119, is it worth it? It's a no brainer!

So I did extensive research before buying this guitar at my local Sam Ash store. YouTube, google searches, musician websites, etc. there were so many mixed reviews, I just had to buy it for myself. I'm a decent guitar player, I've been playing for about 5 years now. I play in multiple shows a month with a band and sometimes solo. This guitar, for the money, is fine. If you're a beginner, it's perfect. Maybe get an extra set of strings if you feel so inclined. Pro? Might want to change tuning pegs and pickups. Other than that, a bargain guitar! And so lightweight, which I love. Might get another!

very good

extremely amazing guitar. but fedex was not very gentle with the delivery.

I would purchase from Sam ash again

It is a great guitar for a beginner

Nice Looking Guitar with minor issue on the one I got.

Nice looking guitar.Lightweight. Frets edges were extremely sharp on mine. This is the first guitar out of the many guitars I have bought that had sharp fret edges. Rather than bothering to return it I filled all the frets to make it playable. OK guitar for the price.

I'm a total beginner..

..but this seems like a very good learner guitar. It's very light, and has a good sound.

Considering buying this guitar? Here is an FYI:

This is a Les Paul with single coil pickups. That is a bit odd. The Les Paul is known for its Humbuckers. These pickups are sensitive to noise, are flat sounding, produce odd sounding harmonics, and are not very nuanced in tone. No surprise at this price. The SL has a combination bridge that holds the strings and is used for height and intonation adjustment. This is very limiting. My SL needed to have the height and intonation adjusted. The strings sit on a molded ridge that "compensates" for each string. This ridge is not individually adjustable so I could not get enough adjustment to correctly set the intonation, especially on the dreaded "G" sting. A regular Les Paul has a separate bridge and tailpiece, and a better quality bridge has individual screw adjustments for each string to allow for precise intonation adjustments. The Tuners on the SL slip when bending strings, especially the first 3 strings (the smaller strings). Unless you don't do any string bending, you can expect the guitar to be constantly out of tune. Overall, the guitar will hold its tuning over a period of time, but better tuners are needed. My SL is the yellow one, and fit and finish were very good (surprising actually). The guitar is extremely light weight and has a neat look. I'm sure that this will appeal to money conscience new players, but I'm not sure if this is the best guitar for a novice. I would suggest that for about $40 more, Sam Ash sells the Epiphone Les Paul Special VE. This guitar has the humbuckers and separate bridge and tail. At the very least, you have a better path to upgrading the pickups, tuners, etc. I use the SL with a MIDI controller so that I don't encumber my regular guitar with a control unit. I don't need to use the pickups, and the guitar is set up well enough to work well with the MIDI interface, so for me this is a great deal. If you need a really cheap kick-around guitar, then this will fit the bill.

A super cool axe for beginners and pros too!

Every one is a fan of a bargain, especially in the world of electric guitars. I am a big fan of this guitar, it has a very cool vintage vibe, feel and sound. The Les Paul slim body will fit a a lot of players very well. The neck is a slim 60's style taper that has a nice feel.Plus who can not love the aqua blue color. One of the best super bargain guitars currently on the market.

pedal guru

I would, and will, buy another.

Doesn't get 4 stars for being a stellar guitar. It gets 4 stars for being a $99.00 guitar that is a perfect modding platform. On mine, I've replaced the tuning machines...first thing, even if you don't do anything else, the tuning machines that come with this guitar are amongst the worst I have ever encountered. The bridge pickup sounds great, but the neck is a bit muddy. I'm going to replace both with a pair of single-coil size rails humbuckers along with a coil-split wiring harness, and use the bridge in another guitar, possibly in a Strat style. The neck is excellent. The fret ends could use a very, very mild dressing, but they are quite playable out of the box, the truss rod works fine. The wraparound bridge, at least in my case, is serviceable...the guitar is perfectly intonated, but it is a cheap bridge. Nut is ok, but again, could benefit from a better one. Body is very lightweight. The electronics may need to be replaced, as they are somewhat limited...they work, but their range is not quite what you would expect. The body routes are sufficient as they come for single coil pups. You may be able to squeeze a mini-humbucker or a P90 in there, but if you want a full-size 'bucker, be prepared to do some routing. The pickguard is adequate for single coils. You have to be extremely accurate to cut the guard for P90's and even more so for full-size buckers. Stock strings are, as usual, junk. But understand what you are getting...this guitar is a $99.00 or, $119.00 or whatever low-end axe, brand new. But again, it is the perfect modding platform. You can twiddle with it to your heart's content, and make it a beast. Buy one, mod it up, have fun.
