The Epiphone Hummingbird Studio Acoustic-Electric guitar brings the legendary country/rock “Hummingbird” into the 21st century with the new Shadow ePerformer preamp and Shadow NanoFlex pickup system. First introduced in 1960, the square shouldered Hummingbird quickly became a classic thanks to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early Stones hits like “Satisfaction,” “Play With Fire,” and “Under My Thumb.”  There are also many iconic photographs of Keith using a Hummingbird on sessions for Exile on Main Street, Goat’s Head Soup, and Sticky Fingers. Today, the Hummingbird is still a go-to acoustic for rockers like Noel Gallagher, Sheryl Crow, and Kid Rock when they need a rhythm guitar with smooth action and superb “woody” tone that’s full of character. On its own, the Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric can stand out in a crowd with an all- acoustic band or picking party with its sweet, balanced tone. Now with the Fishman Sonitone soundhole preamp and Fishman Sonicore pickup, the Hummingbird Studio can plug-in and hold its own on any sized stage.

The Epiphone Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric features a solid spruce top. Spruce is a rich and complex tonewood that begins to breathe and improve with age. The more you play, the better it sounds! The body and neck are made from select mahogany. The neck features a 25.5” scale and is attached to the body with a glued-in dovetail joint. The neck profile is Epiphone’s classic SlimTaper D profile. The Pau Ferro fingerboard has pearloid parallelogram inlays, 20 medium frets, a 12” radius, and a 1.68” neck. There is single ply white binding around the neck, and the sloped dovewing headstock has the “Epiphone” logo in white. The body top has 5-ply white and black binding while the body back has single ply white binding like vintage originals. The Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric’s reverse belly rosewood bridge has a compensated saddle for smooth action and intonation. A guitar has to endure a lot of stress between the nut and bridge and rosewood has proven to be a perfect complement to a spruce top.

Fishman is an industry leader in bringing a guitar’s true acoustic tone to bigger stages. The Sonicore pickup is set underneath the rosewood saddle. The Sonitone sound-hole preamp is an active preamp mounted in the soundhole with easy-to-access mounted rotary controls for Master Volume and Tone adjustment. Now you can make your adjustments during soundcheck and even fine adjustments on-the-fly during your set. No more running back and forth to your amp or the soundboard!  Finally, your tone is in your hands right where you need it. The active preamp is powered by a single 9-volt battery. You can connect your Epiphone Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric to a PA or amp of your choice with a standard 1/4" instrument cable. Batteries typically last up to 100 hours.

Great bang for the buck

Bought as a second acoustic to drag on vacation to the beach but it's getting more and more play at home. Sounds even better plugged in. Great set up/action for an Epiphone. Truer quality control has gotten much better. Though not the quality and build of it's Gibson brother I'd say you could even gig with it.

I would definitely recommend

Love the guitar. Received in perfect condition. Easy to play right out of the box. Just changes the strings. Love the sound

not bad for an Epiphone; however, don't expect it to be comparable to the early ones Gibson put out in the 60's. plays fine and sounds fine for the price range.

Would recommend.

Looks good, plays good. Meets expections.

Stunning for the price~as good as the Gibson

Stunning guitar and has a beautiful feel and balance! I have played the Gibson's and this actually sounds better if you can believe that. Said spruce top and great electronics. The finish and pick guard are very hight quality. I'm stunned and have been playing for over 40 years.....get one soon!!

Great buy for the price

I feel like Epiphone guitars are criminally overlooked, but right out of the box this guitar sounds and plays great. For the price, this is a good guitar for anyone looking for an acoustic with onboard electronics.

Sounds fabulous for the money. Looks absolutely gorgeous. The people at Sam Ash got me squared away...low pressure...and we got a decent ukulele as well!

Good proce

Great guitar!

Great gutiar. Will need a little action work. Great sound, full bright rich tones. Beautiful looking. Very happy so far.

Beautiful signt and sound!

This is a beautiful instrument, with a rich sound. It will thrill audiences (and the guitarist!) for many years of enjoyment. I look forward for this to be a favorite for a long time.
