great for hearing my mix during live performances
I had it for 3 years but stop working almost a year now I am very disappointed in this product,it sound so good when it worked,I used it for wedding gigs and parties low volume back ground music with a spanish guitar and electonic roland handsonic drum. Ireally need it repaired.I always loved Electro voice speakers looking getting two still wanna buy EV not sure.
These little speakers are very light weight, and sound good. I use them for monitors for bands, mains for small rooms. They work well as long as the ambient temperature is below 80. If you are outside and you put them in the sun, they will shut down, even if you are not pushing them hard.
I love these speakers, I use them to dj at small events. These speakers are powerful, clear, and a great buy
I have four of these, plus an SB122 subwoofer in my '99 Corvette! I was looking to design a system for the car that could be used to broadcast music and announcements from the car, plus play background music at car shows and cruise-ins, and these were perfect. They fit right behind the seats, and are small enough to leave room to stow the targa top. I have received many compliments on the incredibly clear, loud, clean sound coming from this system in the car. I even was recruited to actually DJ two events specifically from the car...even though I also have a large sound system that I normally DJ with. I can't recommend these enough[...]
I was skeptical at first about paying so much for one speaker, but after talking to a Sam Ash rep, I was convinced it would be worth it. The woofer is only 8", but it knocks like a 12 (seriously). I've been using this PA 5 days/wk for 4 months, and I've had 0 problems. I use it in conjunction w/a mixer for street performing. My violin and the backing music comes through very clear and there is good bass response. It fits well in a medium sized luggage bag. If I didn't have to lug around a 50lb marine for power, I would carry it in a gym bag

I picked one of these up to use as a DJ monitor and went back for a second one to have a matching set. They are great for indoor and for small venues. For the size and weight it's amazing the sound they put out! The highs are crisp and clear with little distrotion. The lows arent bad at all considering the size. Don't expect them to replace a 12" or 15" speaker setup (unless you have a powered subs).Versitile: with the amp built in, setup is a breeze. Plug power and signal, and play. They are great for djs and musicians even offering a mic input and xlr in/out - each with adjustable gain. There is no eq but you can toggle the bass off if you are using it with a powered sub.Comparison: Compared to my mackie srm450s, they sound better on the high end -- very clear and crisp with little distortion and hiss -- but the mackies win with the low end with the 12" woofer. One has to keep in mind the mackies weigh almost 65 pounds each and the zxa1's weigh a mere 19 pounds each.Dislikes: I dont like the plastic they used on the zxa1s, they scratch easily compared to other speakers. The case seems a little flimsy compared to the mackies and other ev speakers ive owned. I strongly recommend you get padded cases to protect your investments! Warning: the zxa1s tend to slip out of your hands when using the built in carry handle. I solved this by getting peel off sticky grip tape and placed it on the inside to provide better grip with one hand. At [$] each i would not want to risk dropping one. I recommend you do the same.Servicability: They are designed for easy service, the amp is removable with a few screws on the back. It slides out and cabe replaced withing seconds. nthey come with a 5 year warranty and the excellent ev customer service.Power: the manufacturer claims these speakers are 800watts with 30 percent headroom bringing that to 1100watts peak. Well, That is the biggest bunch of [*] i've ever heard. Continuous rms power is the same as the zx1-90s -- 200 watts rms. It is the same speaker only with a built in perfectly matched super small amp. 800 watts may be the peak power or some other power measurment standard. These speakers are Plenty loud for most indoor and small venues.Uses: guitarists, keyboard players, public speakers, churches, dj booth monitors, small bars and clubs, and mobile djs (if used with a powered sub). If i were opening a new nightclub i would go all ev and put these on every wall with subs hidden in the floor for the ultimate sound with the smallest footprint.Overall: i feel a little misled that they said they were 800 watts, that is what sold me along with the amazing sound. but after owning them for several weeks, Power rating doesnt mean much when you actually give them a listen and consider how infinately smaller and lighter than other speakers. i love them and do not plan to sell them anytime soon.
