Every musician battles hum in their signal chain. The Hum Debugger turns it into dead silence, courtesy of a little EHX magic. Not a noise gate, and not a noise suppressor -- but a real hum extractor. Silence is golden.

Very cool pedal. I would recommend this

It reduces most of the 60hz hum on single coils and makes guitar have a slight metallic tone that I like with single coil pick-ups.

EHX Hum Debugger

I have a Strat-type guitar with three single coils that are not noise canceling. Without the EHX Hum Debugger, the ever-present 60-cycle hum is obnoxious, as most single-coil Strat-type guitar players are aware. Given a choice, I would prefer the newer noiseless pups, but I already have expensive, hot singles that I prefer to stick with for cost and aesthetic reasons, and the only way to manage them is with the Hum Debugger. I have tried various gates and suppressors, and there is no comparison to the Hum Debugger. Placing the EHX in front of the signal chain totally eliminates the hum, and I only have to adjust the gain slightly higher to put back any tone the EHX "may" subtract. I think the biggest fear of every single-coil Strat-type guitar player is losing tone with a noise eliminator, like you would with a noise gate or supressor no matter the maker, but their fears should be put to rest with the Hum Debugger. Hats off to EHX! The only negatives are you cannot use a 9-volt adapter as theirs is proprietary, so it does need a separate AC outlet, and there are but two debugging options, basically weak and strong. The weaker of the two did very little to eliminate the 60-cycle hum even though the literature says that's probably all you will need. Only the strong side of the switch was effective, but I do have 3 hot pups as I mentioned earlier. I would have preferred a sliding-scale strength option, like a knob or something similar, and the switch itself could have been made a little sturdier (thicker), although so far so good. Plus, I never have to move it back and forth since I am happy with the one setting.

Works!

I play mostly vintage Fender Esquires and they feedback like crazy - especially with fuzz and overdrive pedals. Heard some negative reviews but for me and my rig...this pedal has minimized/all but eliminated the feedback/hum/buzz and works as advertised. A+ and essential if you are a single coil player who loves pedals, effects and a buzz free sound.

it does not work with humbuckers guitars or with high gain pedals. It is also too expensive and it make a weird sound to your efects

Electro Harmonix Hum Debugger

This pedal nicely quiets single coil hum without coloring or diminishing your sound. It is well built in a metal case with a solid foot button switch. No pop when engaging or d/c'ing the pedal.
