The GSRM compact 28.6” scale necks are short in length, but these bass guitars are long on style and playability, with basswood bodies and maple necks, along with wallet-friendly pricing

Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro bass is ideal for anyone who needs a compact axe or the comfort of a smaller neck (especially young rockers). The GSRM 28.6” scale neck is a shorter length version of the award winning, vastly popular Soundgear neck. A sturdy B10 bridge is another feature on the well-equipped GSRM20 Mikro bass. This bass guitar is long on style and playability, with a basswood body and maple neck, and wallet-friendly pricing. Ibanez Mikros have the same warranty, high quality, and careful set-up as Ibanez's full-size SR and GSR models. Case not included.

Interesting short scale bass

from Des Moines, IA

Verified Buyer

  • Fun to play
  • Inexpensive

  • Neck too flexible
  • Odd overtones

Best Uses

  • home or practice
  • small hands

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Series Left Handed Electric Bass:

I picked up the left-handed version of the Mikro bass to see if a short scale bass would work better for me because of some damage when I was a kid to my fretting hand. The short scale of the bass is great for someone used to playing the scale length of an electric guitar and the bass itself pays well. The major criticism I have is the flexibility of the neck and body. It doesn't take much pressure at all on the neck to change the pitch of the note. I knew the floppier strings of the short scale would change the pitch more, but I was surprised how little pressure it takes to change pitch just holding the bass, at least compared to my long scale. Also, it seems like some odd overtones are created that are especially noticeable when playing along with prerecorded songs. Overall, for the price it is a fun little bass that has an expressive neck.

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Series Left Handed Electric Bass:

I am a 40+ years playing bass have a Yamaha & a Fender Jazz but the sound and easy playability for short people is incredible !!
The price and action of the strings is amazing I did not have to adjust anything played from the box. The quality of Ibanez is incredible if you are left handed and short buy it you wont be sorry.
