This Amp is a beast. Every guitar I own sounds unique on this amp. None of them sound the same as the other on the settings I use on this amp. The Les Paul I just got from Sam Ash... is a monster on this Amp... where as my Jackson Kelly JS32T sounds like a whole other animal. Mind you... I don't change the setting I picked... just the guitar. This how I can tell whether or not I have a really good amp or not. I have a 40 watt amp that does the same thing but does not have the features that this 100 xl has. If I could afford to get another one... I would. This amp meets my needs... and rocks my house. I definitely had doubts about it because of past experiences with amps that have built in effects... but it seems that Fender got it right. The Metal side of this amp blew me away. I don't even have my effects hooked up to it yet. On it's face it has a very rich tone... and depending on the guitar you're using... you will either get a muddy sound or a great sound without changing your amp settings. Hook up a cheap guitar with a JUNK body and lousy pick ups (my old beater from way back) and you'll see what I mean. Then hook up a top grade guitar... and you'll get the picture. It is worth the price and the speakers have great tone. I wouldn't change a thing. The effects are really good.
