I am a lifelong professional player (72 yrs old). I have owned and sadly through bad decisions have departed with some early vintage Gibson guitars throughout life. My advice to all guitar lovers, "Be faithful to the one who brought you here." This brings me to the present. I maintain that Gibson is the one standard that all other manufacturers are still vying to mimic. I purchased the 2020 Cherry Burst Les Paul 50's online from "Mr. Sam", this being my first experience with online guitar buying. Thus, I broke a lifelong cardinal rule, "play before you pay!" Nevertheless, despite some serious hand wringing I was very pleased when the instrument arrived. Gibson is on top of their 'A Game'. The guitar was also properly packaged and secured in its long overland trip from New York to Texas. Thanks, 'Mr Sam'! Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, there was a slight delivery delay, however the company online customer service representative provided me with regular updates. Back to the excitement. The guitar was even more attractive in hand. The finish and setup was to professional standards. The cherry burst finish is immaculately applied and visually appealing. I went with the 50's model because of my familiarity with some of its 'ancestors'. The larger/ thicker neck profile is spot on, it provides a good grip when I make stretchy jazz chords. The alnico 2 humbucker pickups sing with clarity and for lack of a better description it produces what knowledgeable guitarists describe as a 'creamy tone'. I pushed it in an overdriven tube amplifier and it growled with the biting blues tones so connected with the Gibson Les Paul. This instrument rekindles old memories. Mr Sam' included a Gibson guitar strap, cleaning cloth, a hex tool set, warranty card, and a bunch of guitar picks. Also in the case I found an overhead photo print of the guitar laying on a weight scale just before it left the factory. Talk about provenance! Thanks Sam Ash, you made my day!

This is the what I've dreamed of for 40+ years. The look, the feel, even the smell is what I've always thought a Gibson Les Paul would be. I think the staff was as excited to see me get it's I was. I will definitely be back.

I have been looking for a "real" Gibson Les Paul for several years. I had planned on purchasing this guitar for my 55th birthday (May) but was stopped cold in my tracks when Covid hit. I couldn't imagine buying on line, but my Wife encouraged me to try. I had played this guitar in the Manhattan store, the Brooklyn store and the Huntington store...so I knew this was the one, but would it be cared for and arrive in perfect condition? When it arrived, I had my answer. It was perfect along with signed documentation and a check off list of preparation. Thank you for this wonderful expierence!

Love my new Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s. Because Sam Ash Music gives you the ability to see all of their guitars in stock I was able to find a great looking burst and the heavier weight I was looking for. When I received the guitar I was not disappointed it plays and sounds great and I would like to thank the technician who set up the action low as I requested. Thank you to Sam Ash Music and especially to my sales rep Jordan who worked with me for about a month to find the right guitar.

After 56 years of playing guitar, I have owned more than just a few Gibson's. Being more a Fender guy, I happened an this newly reconfigured Les Paul Standard. I find the fit and finish to be extraordinary and the new style Burstbuckers among the best sounding pickups I have encountered ,hands down. Finally Gibson is back! And in a big way.

The new Les Paul standards seem to play feel and sound better with the choice of either 50s or 60s in addition to the p90 that's available. I chose the 50's model and the burstbuckers are great really happy with the guitar and it stays in tune. Hopefully Gibson figured how to cut a nut correctly.
