I am a keyboard player and bought this for my Clavinet D6. I previously owned the Blue Junior III with all the Bill M. mods which helped, but it still did not sound great. The highs were unpleasant and piercing and the whole tone was unbalanced to my ears. This amp is so much improved and sounds 100 times better. I really love the overall tone, the overdrive you can get by adjusting the Master and Volume, and the reverb is so much better and warm sounding, Definitely a marked improvement!

I bought this because the Mark IV version has the best sound of the entire Blues Junior series. This is, of course, highly subjective, but as a blues, rockabilly, surf kind of guy I find the tone of this amp perfect for use with my two Gretsch guitars and my Epiphone Thin Body Century. The basic sound (no pedals) is full and has most pleasing tone. If one uses the amp alone, it would be enough tone for any situation I could imagine short of metal of course. The Celestion "A" speaker was a pleasant surprise too; and excellent and most complementary match to the amp. The Fat Switch is very cool for a boost in a blues solo. Reverb is ok but not surf enough for me with the small tank. Overall volume should be fine for small bar gigs.Amp is very pedal friendly. I employ 4 pedals: Overdrive, Reverb/Tremolo, Chorus, and Delay. Mostly home use (right now) - looking forward to jamming with this amp. My tone went from somewhat generically blah with my old amps to an inspiring tone that makes me want to keep playing.

I didn't give it five stars because I don't want someone to think it is the end all amp anyone would want to own, but for the reasons I purchased it I could have been 5 stars. I wanted an amp that would be easy to carry, would sound really good and would save me the trouble of having to lug my vintage amps all over the place when I'm just jamming or having fun and not gigging. For what it is I think it was the best choice but there.

Have not had much time to play it much but so far so good. Sounds great and plenty of volume for my music room, barely take it past 3 on volume. Makes a great Jazz amp, clear and crisp sound. Does hum a bit but I hear that pretty normal for a tube amp. Sam ash had the best price by far with the discount coupon I used. Shipping was two days with no hassles, no pre opened boxes.
