The Erupter is the result of over two years' worth of tone-chasing, tweaking, and experimentation in search of what EarthQuaker president and product designer Jamie Stillman calls "the ultimate classic fuzz tone... with a big low end, but not too mushy, a biting top end without being too harsh, and just enough output to politely send a tube amp over the top."

In developing the Erupter, Stillman "[used] every trick [he] ever learned" to craft a fuzz device that sounds good with any pickup type anywhere in the effects chain, even before a wah pedal, and without any impedance mismatching. To this end, the Erupter uses a buffered input section, transformer-based pickup simulation, new production 5% 1/2-watt carbon composition resistors, metallized polyester film capacitors, Sprague and BC electrolytic capacitors, and low-gain, hand-matched NOS silicon transistors to deliver a "well-rounded and defined fuzz tone with just enough pummeling intensity."

The Erupter's simple control set stands in stark relief of its rigorous design process. A single control labeled "Bias" adjusts the amount of voltage fed to the NOS silicon transistors. Low "Bias" settings yield a rude, spongy fuzz tone with plenty of sag and a blossoming attack envelope that's gated without entering "dying battery" territory. As the "Bias" control is increased, additional harmonics stack atop the input signal, producing a stiffer, more complex fuzz tone with a tighter response, increased output, and longer sustain. The Erupter uses a fixed output level and gain setting for the "thickest fuzz possible," and to "push the full frequency range of the guitar out front when you kick it on."

  • Classic Fuzz Tone
  • Overloaded-yet-refined full-force fuzz with crushing lows and smooth top end that’s touch-responsive and reacts to changes in guitar volume and tone controls
  • "Bias" control adjusts fuzz character for unique tonal variations
  • True Bypass
  • Silent relay-based switching
  • All-analog signal path
  • Lifetime guarantee

Fuzz made simple!

I know what your thinking.. can one knob really make this pedal useful? YES.. you only need one knob. This pedal was one of the biggest tone surprises of my long history with guitar gear. It plain flat out kills. Plus it has a ton of different tones depending on where you set the knob. Yes, the output level is set, but if you set your amp correctly it will not be an issue. Give this thing a try, it will really make you rethink your fuzz pedal game.

Gated Fuzzy Goodness!!

This pedal is all that fuzz should be. Dual Germanium Diodes and one bias knob is all you need to get super fuzzy goodness out of this bad boy. Theres nothing classic about this monster of a fuzz as it is packed with all the yummy gated super spongy fuzz that any one man could want. If you want a fuzz that's different and still useable this is the fuzz for you. Jamie Stillman knows how to make a pedal that stands out from the rest and this one takes the cake!! This was a hands on review from Graham at Sam Ash Cleveland

Earthquaker is earth shakingly cool

Who does not love an easy to use great sounding stomp box. And yea there are hundreds to choose from, but the Erupter is one of the ones you really must try. Who knows what all goes into the circuitry but terms like fat tight bottom and clear singing highs explain it best. You want fuzz come and get it!

Earthquaker Devices never disappoints!

One of the coolest fuzz pedals around built by THE COOLEST pedal wizards around! Hand built in the U.S.A. , the erupter offers a variety of awesome fuzz tones in a standard sized stomp box with just ONE tone knob! This is a hands on review by Jordan at Sam Ash store 36.

Classic Fuzz!!

The Erupter is the pedal that's going to give you the classic fuzz that has great tone but still cuts through a mix without being mushy. This pedal is easy to use with one knob to control the tonal characteristics of the fuzz so you can dial-in the sound you are looking for!

Great Simple Fuzz!

This is a classic fuzz that is incredibly simple, and why shouldn't it be? It was designed to sound great with any pickup type, any amp type and anywhere in the signal chain. That is insanely versatile and in my opinion, insanely cool!

Great Fuzz Pedal

Ohio's own, Earthquaker have done it again with the simple and solid Erupter pedal. One knob is all you need for this true bypass Fuzz pedal. Cool for all shades of dark metal but I like it paired up with single coils for aHendrix and Yardbirds style riffs.

All the Fuzz

The Erupter is one of the coolest fuzzes around. It touches on all kinds of different tones with its single Bias knob and does it all, from classic to major crunch. Fantastic and simple fuzz pedal.

Best Old School Fuzz!

Earthquaker killed it with the Eruptor! It's not easy to find a true, classic fuzz tone in the sea of pedals these days, but this one takes the cake. Immediately you notice the low end is monstrous, but not overbearing, and there's still a great high end to give it some clarity without making it sound super muddy. And who doesn't love the simplicity of just one tone knob?! Love this pedal.
