I thought I'd heard everything!

I have been employing rainsticks in the production and performance of music since 1969 when I was introduced to my first while traveling the Patagonian region of South America. Before this encounter, I had only heard about them, never actually heard one being played. Back then, there was no Internet, no PCs, and there certainly was no such thing as cybershopping (where one can find anything) so my "discovery" happened quite by chance. Since then, I have used more than 2 dozen rainsticks and tested at least twice that many . . . . . . BUT . . . this 39-inch Meinl from Sam Ash makes absolutely the FINEST, MOST AUTHENTIC, BELIEVABLE, PLEASING, RAIN MUSIC I've heard by one of these instruments EVER!! And it happened the instant I raised one end of my new stick. Meinl has good reason to be proud of this percussion instrument. I don't know if it's the bamboo, or the "seeds", or if it's the Meinl magic, but if there is a musician out there who's looking for a sound that can be plaintive one minute, bright & rousing the next, be the perfect mate for woodwind or for strings, or even played solo for a few measures, a rainstick ~ specifically A MEINL rainstick ~ may be exactly what you're looking for.
