Great Product

This is the best module out there. You need to spend time to build your kits and settings for your playing style but the time is well worth it. Not for first timers, but if you have been playing electronic drums and want the best sound and feel, the Pearl Mimic is module you want to use.

VST in a box

Being a long time Roland Fan boy, I jumped ship and got the Mimic Pro. I have a TD-30k and swapped out the brain for the Mimic Pro. It's not plug and play, but once dialed in, this thing is amazing. There are so many functions for customizing pad performance, you can get extreme realism in your playing. The sounds are incredible! Now I see what all the fuss was about. I was so used to Roland's artificial sounds, it took me a while to appreciate the extreme realism the mimic produces. I love Roland products, but the Mimic is the next evolution in e-drum sounds. Why Mimic pro and not VST you ask? Well, I have all of the Native Instruments Abbey Roads drum editions and Superior Drummer 3. SD3 is killer, but it is not convenient, and by the time I fuss with computer, software and the infinite setup possibilities, I don't feel like jamming anymore. With the mimic pro, once it's set up, just switch it on and start jamming out with Steven Slate 5 samples. Creating custom kits is easy. Mix Ludwig, Pearl, Tama kits, layer kicks and snares, set room and overhead mics, import wav samples, assign any sound to any trigger, get separate headphones and master out mixes, dial in reverb individually for each drum, trigger VSTs, etc, etc. The Mimic pro, with Roland pads is the ultimate combination. I'm really happy with this purchase. It was worth every penny.
