The Yamaha DGX-660 contemporary digital piano gives aspiring pianists a fun way to enhance their learning experience.

Welcome to your personal "Piano Room"! The DGX-660 provides a dedicated virtual space where you can choose from a variety of pianos and acoustic settings, creating your personalized practice or performance environment. Simply select your desired piano, then choose any acoustic space ranging from a plain room, to a club stage, to a concert hall.

You can even adjust the position of the virtual piano lid! Players of all abilities can feel what it's like to play with a band and sound like a pro! And the built-in USB Audio Recorder captures your musical inspirations when you're ready to share your accomplishments.

An authentic piano touch with an 88-note weighted GHS keyboard
The Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard features a weighted action with heavier touch in the low end and lighter touch in the high end, just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. Great for the aspiring pianist, practicing on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique and strength for when the time comes to perform on an acoustic piano.

Sing along while you play!
Simply connect a microphone to the DGX-660 to sing along either with your playing or with pre-recorded karaoke song files from Yamaha MusicSoft. You can hear what you sound like with everything mixed perfectly together from the built-in speakers. View the lyrics on the included score display. Three convenient presets are provided for different vocal performance situations. You can even create and save your own original microphone settings, including professional reverb and chorus effects.

Go wireless with your iOS device
Optional wireless adapters from Yamaha stream audio and MIDI to and from your iOS device with compatible music apps. The Chord Tracker app takes full advantage of this technology, allowing you to play back songs from your iOS device's song library wirelessly through the DGX-660's speaker system. Chord Tracker analyzes the audio songs stored in your iOS device and then displays the chord symbols for you. It can even create an XF song file that plays back the entire song using the DGX-660's accompaniment Styles.

Easy-to-read score and lyric display
The crystal-clear LCD can be switched to score or lyric display, showing you notation for any MIDI song that the DGX-660 is playing. Read the music for your favorite built-in songs, or follow along with songs downloaded to a USB device from Yamaha MusicSoft. Even see the score for songs you've created yourself on the DGX-660!

Live!, Cool! and Sweet! Voices
Experience authentic guitars, lush strings, and punchy brass with the highly acclaimed Live!, Cool! and Sweet! Voices. These Voices on the DGX-660 feature a unique blend of long, stereo and multi-layered samples that capture the essence of each instrument, right down to genuine resonance, expression and vibrato.

Choose Styles the easy way with Style Recommender!
Style Recommender helps you find Styles quickly and easily when you know how the music should feel, but don't know which Style is right for the part. Simply play a few notes in the rhythm of the song you want to perform, and Style Recommender will offer a list of matching Styles to choose from.

Let your mobile music device be heard!
Use the AUX IN to connect your portable music player or even another instrument to the DGX-660, and hear the playback through the built-in speakers. The DGX-660's speaker system is powerful, clear and fine-tuned for playing back music of all types

Wonderful Grand Piano

I would give this a 4.5 star rating if I could. The Portable Grand is a wonderful instrument and a great investment. Some people say it is too big and heavy.... those people did not read the reviews or look at specs. The Piano itself is a lot more than I will ever use because my main focus is learning the piano. So, the piano itself cannot be beat as far as I can tell. That being said, there are three other things that really annoy me. First, the foot pedal is pathetic and I already had a better one I got for $15 off Amazon. Secondly, the Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) is absolutely horrid and is basically not really even a function. The Y.E.S is so bad that I noticed that Yamaha removed it as a selling point on the Yamaha website (at least when describing the DGX 660). Lastly, it is a shame that Yamaha thinks that everyone in the world is an Apple iPad user. They have neglected 65% of the population by making apps that only Apple user can use. So, While Yamaha touts the Apps that you can download... don't count on it if you are an Android user. I bought this Piano from Sam Ash because of the 36 month financing even though additional freebies (like Amazon gives) were not involved . I had read some bad reviews but, I had a very pleasant experience. When I ordered the Piano, I was told to expect it on April 30 (Monday). Once it was shipped, Sam Ash updated the delivery date to April 27th (Friday). Man, was I happy until UPS updated the delivery to April 26th (Thursday)... I was elated. So essentially, Sam Ash got me this 100 lbs Piano in perfect shape in two days...

Holy Smokes.. this is awesome

First the cons: It is heavy but, so what. I did my research and knew it was heavy and I had no plans to carry around this "Portable Grand". That is it... no more cons. I bought this as an upgrade from a Casio CT series "toy" and I am new at music even though I am old. I absolutely love this piano (and 550 other instruments). It sounds wonderful with fantastic sound and features/action/response. I am not sure I could have made a better purchase. It is a lot to learn, kinda. I did not say this is a con for a reason. The reason is that coming from a low level toy like keyboard from the 1990's to this extremely advanced musical instrument...let just say there is a big learning curve and Yamaha should not be penalized because they produced an advanced piece of art. This brings me to Sam Ash (.com) sells the instrument for the same price as everyone else although some places have bundles that are better.... the main reason I went with Sam Ash is because they have/had financing (36 months, 0% financing) that I cannot get elsewhere. I ordered the piano ground (to Oregon, yeah I know... but those weirdos live up North) and was expecting 6-7 days shipping. Then, I went on to find several bad reviews for customer service and shipping delays...ouch, I was concerned. But then, I received a shipping confirmation that is would be here in 3 days. Let's say I was happy. Imagine my delight when it actually arrive a day early. The instrument is in great working order and perfect condition. My only regret is that I wish I would have gotten the 3-pedal unit as well, for $75.

The Technology is Astounding

When I read that this was sampled from a CFIII with a real keyboard feel, I was skeptical, as I am a pianist with a highly discriminating touch and ear. Well, I was duly impressed. I would compare the touch on this instrument to a Yamaha U1 (same as an upright, believe it or not), and the sound really is world-class. It is near impossible on a digital instrument to emulate the touch of a concert grand...however, they've managed to emulate the touch of a high quality upright piano, which is pretty amazing for a digital instrument. The pedal that it comes with is more of an "on-off", not sensitive, so you need to replace it with a separate pedal unit. The touch and sound of this instrument is BETTER than what Yamaha used to sell for over $5,000 only 5 years ago....this is to tell you how far they've come with their technology. You just can't beat Yamaha technology. Always state-of-the-art...I am seriously impressed. For this price point, you can't beat it. Sounds like an instrument you paid thousands for. Many wonderful, incredible features! I am floored by this purchase, and it's an impressive product from Yamaha. Tough to beat!

Yes, indeed! Great keyboard! The DGX 660 has it all at an affordable price and much more. This digital piano is excellent for anywhere one needs. The DGX 660 is easy to play! Really Yamaha have done an excellent job with the sound systems.

Absolutely LOVE the tones on this keyboard! The on board speakers produce a pure clean tone and get a rich deep end which I love since I tend to stay closer to the bottom end. The sound choices greatly surpass the cheaper boards and the quality is second to none! I prefer a different pedal than the one that comes with it, but other than that it's a great keyboard!

Acoustic Feel with Digital Features

Ready to step up to an acoustic feel but reluctant to leave the versatility of digital features? This keyboard retains the familiarity of using entry to mid level keyboards in features, but adds the elegance of an acoustic weighted feel. As this keyboard is refresh of the DGX-650, the keybed is improved, with the proper feel of hammer action graded touch sensitivity. The built in speakers are also delightful in sound, though equally impressive is the ease of connecting the keyboard to external monitors. With the included stand, this keyboard will equally serve you as a home piece as well a worthy stage performance gear. Get acoustic sounds and feel without the compromise features!

Great Sound and Feel

The DGX 660 has it all at an affordable price. Weighted keys with a great feel to them, tons of terrific sounds, a large easy to read screen and amazing sounding built in speakers. It is easily detached from the stand, making it quick work to pick up and take to your next gig. There are tons of sounds ranging from pianos, electric pianos, strings, horns, guitars and basses among others. This has been a hands on review by Nathan at Sam Ash Canoga Park.

Versatility at its finest

I've owned this model for about a year. I upgraded from a P115B, because I wanted a lot more onboard features, and this model delivers in spades. There are many features I've yet to utilize, but I love that I can set it up like a digital piano AND carry it around if I choose to. If you plan on transporting it on a regular basis, make sure you get a nice case for it.

Great Sounding Digital Piano

This digital piano is great for anywhere one needs an easy to use and easy to play piano without the weight and tuning headaches of an acoustic piano. Yamaha has the best piano samples in the business IMO!

Great value on a digital piano

Yamaha has really stepped up their game with this digital piano. It still has the same quality and great features as the DGX-650 with a few improvements. One of the coolest features on the DGX-660 is the virtual piano room. It gives you the ability to choose between many different piano sounds and simulated rooms, and even lets you set how far open the lid is! You are also able to record to a USB device so you can play back and share your performances, and you can run a microphone through it to perform and simultaneously record with. And on top of all of that, you can even connect your iOS device and stream MIDI or audio through the DGX-660 to play backing tracks or display chord data right on the screen.
