D'Addario XL Electric Guitar strings are world-renowned as "The Player's Choice" amongst guitar players of all genres and styles. XL strings are wound with nickelplated steel and are known for their distinctive bright tone and excellent intonation.

D'addario pays more to have their ball ends precision turned from solid brass stock. The edges have radii that prevent the ball end from cutting into wooden bridges or guitar tops. Each string is twisted to perfection right down to the three neatly wrapped "lock twists." And those lock twists help keep their plain steel strings from unraveling or breaking prematurely. Each and every spool of precision drawn high carbon steel wire D'addario uses goes through three quality control tests before it becomes a set of D'addario strings. Pioneering innovative string design has been a D'Addario family tradition for nine generations. Most guitar players don't realize that the inner core wire in ALL D'Addario steel strings is made from carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel wire. The six "edges" of the core wire bite into the softer wrap wire, securing it all along its length. Environmental Package.

Solid workhorse set

Purchased for my 2009 Gibson SG Standard, tuned to D Standard. Been using only XL's for a few years now after 10 years of EB Slinky. I also use these on my Jaguar also in D and I much prefer the Gibson scale length. Higher tension than expected with very mid-heavy tone. Not as snappy/bright as I hoped. I may try out .11's next time around.

I would buy this product again.

I like the heavier 12's. Tone is good. These are good strings

I would buy this product again and again

This is probably the string set I will buy everytime I restring my guitar. I like to play metal and rock, and these strings are great for standard, Eb, and drop tuning. I think the low E should be a 52 gauge and G string should be wounded. Other than that these strings sound great and have a long life. I recommend you buy these =P .
