D'Addario XL Electric Guitar strings are world-renowned as "The Player's Choice" amongst guitar players of all genres and styles. XL strings are wound with nickelplated steel and are known for their distinctive bright tone and excellent intonation.

D'addario pays more to have their ball ends precision turned from solid brass stock. The edges have radii that prevent the ball end from cutting into wooden bridges or guitar tops. Each string is twisted to perfection right down to the three neatly wrapped "lock twists." And those lock twists help keep their plain steel strings from unraveling or breaking prematurely. Each and every spool of precision drawn high carbon steel wire D'addario uses goes through three quality control tests before it becomes a set of D'addario strings. Pioneering innovative string design has been a D'Addario family tradition for nine generations. Most guitar players don't realize that the inner core wire in ALL D'Addario steel strings is made from carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel wire. The six "edges" of the core wire bite into the softer wrap wire, securing it all along its length. Environmental Package.

Comments about Daddario EXL120+ XL Super Light Plus (9.5-42) Electric Guitar Strings:

I fought the 9's vs 10's battle for about a year with my strat. These strings are the perfect size in my opinion for the long scale length of the strat. They brought my Vintage style JM strat to life with the correct setup. Easy bends but they do not feel weak like the 9's and don't seem to float too far of the fretboard (regardless of action) like 10's.

My setup with these on my strat is as follows.

1.) Five bridge springs pulled tight (flat-tailed)
2.) High E and B are at just shy of 4/64ths at the 12th fret
        3.) G and D are just over 4/64ths at the 12th fret
4.) E and A are half to 3/4's of the way to 5/64ths at the 12th fret

Pickup setup (measured pole piece to bottom of string on the E strings):
        neck - bass 4.5mm, treble above 3.5mm
        middle - bass 4mm, treble above 3mm
        bridge - bass 3.5mm, above 2.5mm

Neck relief measured at the 7th fret (first and last frets 'fretted') is about .008-.010.

Plays so well with these strings!
