Fine Trombone

This was the first Bb/F trombone I bought after playing a straight trombone for 40 years. I have used it for several years now and have grown to appreciate it more as I play with trombonists playing a variety of horns by Getzen, Conn, Bach, and Benge. I play in both a large community band as well as trombone quartet and brass quintet. The horn blends well with other instruments and has the sound I'm looking for. I was impressed with its ability to slot into the notes well, much better than the Jupiter I traded from. The horn is durable and well built and comes with a slick hard side case with pack straps. The case protects the horn well but doesn't offer much space for carrying other gear. I use a Wolfpack case which offers a large outer pocket to carry things like a stand, glasses, pencils, etc. There is very little difference in blow through either side of the horn (Bb / F). I really like the ability to not have to go beyond fifth position for a C or B. Even though it is a large bore horn I have no difficulty going to a high Bb. The slotting of the G and A in second is well defined (short second for A) and easy to repeat. It also does a fine high A in fourth. Alternate positions for middle Bb and D / Db work well also. The slide is a wide slide and is the smoothest slide I have ever used. I use Slide-o-Mix and can play for hours without having to add more lube or water. Other horns I've had had to be accompanied by a water bottle for any extended play. The outer slide does a good job of protecting itself too. The rotary valve works smoothly and I like the mechanical linkage as opposed to those tied with a string. I plan on using this horn for a long time to come and don't feel limited by it. I love the sound and the way it blends with other horns.
