Back in 1986 a new breed of hard rock player was on the rise. To meet the demands of the players and their increasingly 'hot-rodded' amplifiers, Celestion set out to develop a modern speaker, capable of handling much more power and overdrive. To achieve this, they coupled their 'H' magnet (the closest in performance to Alnico) with a new cone and voice coil employing contemporary materials.

Celestion's most revealing speaker, the Vintage 30 features enormously detailed and complex overtones, a warm low-end, a famously rich vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top-end. Used singly to reveal the complexities in hand- wired boutique amps, or in quartets for a wonderfully intricate vintage 3D crunch, the Vintage 30 sound has been captured on thousands of recordings from a diverse range of notable players including Slash, Steve Stevens and Peter Frampton.

THE speaker for Hard Rock

I used this speaker to replace a Lead 80 in my Bogner Shiva combo that sounded a bit too bright. The V30 did the trick, but until I get an extension cab I got to watch my volume level as it's rated at 20 watts less.Bottom line this speaker produces the tone I need to hear.

Big fat bass tone, warm mids, and treble cut.

I've owned (4) Celestion Vintage 30's for about three months now. I have them in a Schrecter SYN 412 USA Cabinet. I'm a pro level lead and rhythm guitarist. I had owned Line 6 Flextone II amps which weren't bad. A peavey bandit, and Ibanez 75 Watt Tone Blaster. When I plugged in my new Peavey Valve King Head. I was blown away. Too many wannabe guitarist that don't play hard rock, or metal end up buying Vintage 30's and then hating them. Why don't research these speakers. If you play jazz, or blues. Don't buy the Vintage 30's. They're made for Hard Rock and high gain amps and heads. That being said. The treble is cut. This doesn't mean you don't get great solos. In fact the high frequencies are extended. This means fluid playing, liquidy like solos and very sweet tones. A players emotions and feelings really get felt and come right of the speaker for solos. This is not a flat treble frequency. But it is treble cut. Not unlike the Dimarzio Breed, or Super Distortion. It has a darker sound almost like Mesa Boogie. But it eq'd beyond what a pickup normally is. It is very 3-D souding. Chords jump right out. It's very pleasing to the ear. It cuts through a mix really well. In fact you might not need noise supressor with this speaker being on the darker sound spectrum. It also one of the warmest sound spekers I ever played on. Think broken in JCM800. Very marshally sounding. No fizz . This is a great speaker for skilled players. It may be overpriced for new musicians. Being a quartet will set you back $600.00 not including braiding and wiring and or tech. installation. I like this speaker alot, Blue Alnico Celestion. Too.

Anything Goes

Searing leads to fat clean tones are possible with this speaker. The vintage 30 is one of the most iconic speakers for good reason. They sound amazing and have been heard countless times over the years because they can handle absolutely anything. Just great speakers for the budding tone chaser. *Hands on review by Christopher M. from store 57 in Indianapolis.
