I bought this unit as a back-up to my GK 1001rbII and this thing is amazing. Who Knew? Anyway, I use it all the time now. The size and weight was groovy enough but, the thump & power was killin Son. It's a bright AMP so I turn the tremble to about 9o'clock - It's perhaps too clean of a AMP. So I have to EQ a bit of dirt in. I play 6 string fretless & fretted with preamps & also a upright bass. It sounds great for all of them. We play Jazz/Funk/World moslty with 3 CDs out and looking forward to using this on my next recording.

I really wanted to like this amp but ended up sending it back. It is beautiful to look at with the brushed metal face plate and sides as well as the led lit internals through the front grill and sides. I don't know if it is really 2000 watts but it sure does get really loud. The problem though is that it is very bright sounding with almost no low end at all. It sounds great at the house but in a band mix, it just gets completely lost and blends with the guitars. If you look at the Youtube video with Doug Wimbish playing through it, you can see exactly how bright it is. And the compressor is just ok as well. It really doesn't add much girth to the note, acts more like a limiter instead. I really tried hard to work with it but I needed something with more low end and girth on each note, so I purchased a TC Electronic BH800 instead and I am much happier now. If all you care about is volume, the Veyron has it in spades, but it lacks in everything else and the TC just sounds so much more powerful even if it can't match the volume. I'll take a powerful sounding 800 watts any day over loud thin sounding 2000 watts. I play bass, not guitar.
