Yamaha Acoustic Guitars

Yamaha is world renowned for making everything, from dirt bikes to musical instruments. Within the musical instrument realm, they run the gamut, successfully producing everything from keyboards and pianos, to PA systems and acoustic guitars. In the late 1800s, Yamaha founder Torakusu Yamaha built his first reed organ. Soon thereafter, Yamaha began regular production of pianos. The company developed a reputation for excellent craftsmanship. They also added other instruments to their repertoire like harmonicas and phonographs.

In 1959, Yamaha released "The Electone" – the first electronic organ. As the 20th century went on, Yamaha began producing brass and woodwind instruments, acoustic guitars, and drums. Today, you can find a plethora of excellent products with the Yamaha name. Their acoustic guitars are among the nicest and most affordable beginner and intermediate guitars on the market.

Popular Yamaha Acoustic Guitar Series

FG: Amongst the most solid intermediate guitars money can buy, the Yamaha FG Series has been ringing true since 1966. The focus of this guitar is on great playability, sweet acoustic tone, and excellent build quality, all at a price point below what you'd expect.

STORIA: The STORIA was created with first timers in mind—but it's not a cheap beginner guitar. With a mahogany body, Yamaha has assured that these guitars have solid build quality. These models feature a shorter scale length and an ergonomically designed concert-size body. The STORIA is made incredibly easy to play with a rounded edge, narrow neck, and comfortable string height.

A Series: The A Series encompasses Yamaha's premier workhorse guitars. Their expert-level build commands an expert-level price, but it's worth every penny. It comes in a small variety of stage-ready models, made from rosewood and mahogany, either with or without a cutaway. The A Series showcases the SRT2 pickup system, a straight taper neck, and custom-designed scalloped bracing pattern, for voluminous, expressive tone. (Check out the A5, AC5, A3, AC3, A1, and AC1 models).

TransAcoustic: The TransAcoustic series combines the excellence of the traditional acoustic with bold Yamaha digital technology. The TransAcoustic acoustic-electric models recreate a live sound. An actuator installed on the inner surface of the guitar back vibrates in response to the vibrations of the strings. The vibrations of the actuator are then conveyed to the body of the guitar, and to the air in and around the guitar body, generating authentic reverb and chorus sounds from inside the body. All of that, built into an already excellent Yamaha acoustic.
