Taylor Guitars

Taylor Guitars, founded in 1974 by Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug, have become one of the premier American guitar manufactures. Taylor Guitars has its main headquarters in El Cajon, California where they employ over 900 people and operates a state-of-the-art facility where the 300 Series through the Custom Shop and electric guitars are made. Taylor Guitars also has a brand new facility in Tecate Mexico which builds the 200 Series Deluxe, 200 Series, 100 Series, travel guitars, cases and gig bags. Innovative building techniques, sustainable methods in wood harvesting, and continual design enhancements back a routed tradition in an industry-changing neck design, keeping Taylor Guitars in the upper echelon of the guitar making world. The company artist roster hosts a prodigious list of notables, including the likes of Taylor Swift, Prince, Jason Mraz and Zac Brown.

Taylor Guitars encourages the player to match up their playing type and pair that with a combination of 5 different body shapes and a mix of tone woods across the entire sonic palette to yield the proper sonic fit for the players’ needs. Indian Rosewood and Ovangkol yield a strong bass and treble response which is best suited for singer songwriters requiring a large sonic footprint. Sapele and Tropical Mahogany generate a warm midrange which is ideal for players in a multiple-guitar arrangement, the recording studio, or an acoustic jazz ensemble. Maple is the most transparent of tone woods and highlights the player’s nuances and attack, allowing it to be warm and robust or with strong cut in a live mix or recording. Regarding body size, the bold strummers will favor the Grand Symphony, Dreadnought and Grand Orchestra models for their power, headroom and low end response. Fingerstyle players will gravitate to the Grand Concert and 12-Fret Grand Concert Shapes. The all-around player will still find the Grand Auditorium the shape most valued for its balance and modern voice. All Taylor Guitars feature a solid top for maximum tonal resonance and voice, and include either a deluxe hard shell case or a Taylor gig bag.

Taylor Guitars Expression System Electronics

Taylor Acoustic Electric Guitars feature Taylor Guitar’s exclusive Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics on the 100 Series all the way through to the Custom Shop guitars. The Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor's ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated piezo-crystal based sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before while delivering a very lively and balanced output. Together with Taylor's custom-designed pro audio-grade preamp, the ES2 produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. The electronics are active with should controls on the guitar for bass, treble, and volume boost or cut. This makes it plug-and-play friendly both for artists and live sound mixers.
