Style, Sound, Playability... This Bass Has It All!

I'm a guitar player that never ever picked up a bass. I wanted something more than a starter bass that fit my style, sounded great, and would be very playable after I learned how to play it. I loved the look of 50's bass with Tele head stock. I didn't care if it was road worn or a signature bass. I'd prefer that it was neither. I couldn't find this bass anywhere for me to try, out of stock everywhere. I read positive reviews about the sound quality and not so good reviews about the build quality, all were very accurate. I visited Sam Ash in Edison and met a real pro...Adam T. I drove him crazy picking his brain, trying everything they had. I almost pulled the trigger in the Rick 4004 (loved the action, double truss rod) but really preferred the tone of the P Bass regardless of the price. I decided to do something I would never do with any of my guitars, buy it blind without even trying it. Adam assured me that if I didn't like it I could return it. I went with the rosewood fretboard even though the maple is more consistent with the spec of the original 50's basses. I simply prefered the aesthetics and read that the pickups it come with have plenty of punch to offset any loss in upper frequencies the rosewood might lose over the maple. My factory sealed bass arrived about 5 days later (before the promise date). Includes black on black hard case. Sound is incredible... louder, clearer, deep lows with all the punch in the world! Pro Setup is a must with these basses. The action was way too high, intonation off from the factory. The neck required 3 full turns (done over a 2 months...little at a time). The truss rod is now maxed out and cannot turn anymore. I recommend removing the screws then take off the pick guard to access the truss adjustment. It is not necessary to remove the neck. The neck now has a slight relief and is very playable without any buzzing. With the right tools I set this bass to Fender specs myself. I love this KILLER bass. Thanks Adam!!!
