The flute is my secondary instrument, and I was looking for something newer and different than my Armstrong. First thing is that the black isn't as black as the picture, it's more of a charcoal; deep gray, which is fine, it still stands out from other flutes. How does this compare to my Armstrong from 1992...it's not as free blowing, the mechanics are smooth and more robust feeling. This flute also has metal resonators like my saxophone, unlike my Armstrong being open hole, but I do like the offset G key, it's certainly more comfortable. My Armstrong was crafted in the US, other than this being a Chinese flute, we'll see how it stands the test of time. In all, it is a student flute, but it will get the job done as a side instrument for playing second parts, or if you're a student trying to set yourself apart.
