BIG Ampeg Sound!

What a nice cab! Initially it seems to have more authority than my Ampeg 212 AV and is not as bright or tight. That's not a bad thing, just an observation thus far. In some ways it's as warm sounding and in some ways more aggressive than the 212. There's a mid thing going on that helps in a big room when the lows spread out. Playing this cab in a not very large room doesn't do it justice. Standing right in front of it doesn't give you a good perspective. Get beyond 4ft and you have Mr. Bass going on. I noticed it still sounded good farther away as well and doesn't get boomy. It sounds big without losing definition. The tweeter is really nice. Normally I'm not a tweeter person, but this one sounds nice and I actually use it some. With it I can get close to the brighter (in some ways) sound of the 212--only bigger. I was looking for the Ampeg sound to go with my V-4BH head and this delivers. I was also wanting a little more weight behind the sound and this cab has authority. So far every bass I have used sounds great. Rounds and flats and GHS Pressurewounds all sound good. Precisions (newer and vintage, split and single coil) and Jazzes sound great. I've had some trouble with Js not sounding as full as I would like, but this cab does it well, so I'll be enjoying my Js more often. Cab is well made and should last a lifetime if not abused. Most of a lifetime if abused. It's not heavy (for what it is) and easy to move.

Warm, Wooley, Fat, loud!

Excellent and solid bass cab
