The Yamaha YPG-235 features 76 piano-style keys with Graded Soft Touch action, stereo piano sound, a built-in recorder, Pitch bend wheel and USB computer connectivity.

The Yamaha YPG-235 Digital Grand Piano is the perfect choice for the beginning keyboardist or anyone who’d benefit from a 76 key, lightweight, full featured portable keyboard with an impressive acoustic piano sound.

Power up the Yamaha YPG-235 Digital Grand Piano and start playing gorgeous sounding piano immediately! That’s just one of the many things you’ll love about this powerful, portable keyboard with it’s 12 watt, 2-way full-range built-in stereo speaker system. It’s just what you’d come to expect from Yamaha.

The Yamaha YPG-235’s 76 Graded, Soft Touch keys effortlessly flow up and down the keyboard enabling you to nimbly handle even the most intense musical passages with relative ease. In addition to the Yamaha sampled grand piano, there are a total number of 472 keyboard sounds along with 12 Drum/SFX kits.

Built-in auto-accompaniment provides 160 pre-set, popular music styles at the touch of a button and turn of a dial. Easy to access controls for INTRO, MAIN x 2, FILL-IN and ENDING are all there on the top panel and help lift your playing experience to new heights as your creativity takes flight. The selectable Full Keyboard Mode enables you to guide the auto accompaniment with your right hand (not just the left) so you can be free to play full-on piano with precise backing, a very nice feature.

Useful performing features such as Transpose and Tuning are easily selectable and changeable, and dedicated Tempo Tap and Adjustable Metronome buttons make navigating these controls as simple as tap tap tap!

Registration memory allows you to take a digital “snapshot” of your current setup (patch choice, accompaniment, tempo, etc.) and save it to one of 16 Registration locations located right above the keys for easy access. This makes it a cinch to select setups on the fly and arm you with a way to make a complete song/genre change with the simple touch of a button.

A big easy to turn data entry dial alongside direct numerical buttons and +/- enable quick and precise data entry while a big, backlit Custom LCD displays all the information and selections. A handy, built-in 6-track sequencer allows you to capture your performance and play it back or construct a multi-track song, complete with full-on accompaniment.

The Yamaha YPG-235 has 30 built-in songs (there’s an additional 70 on the included CD-ROM) to use together with the onboard Yamaha Education Suite. Seven levels of piano lessons guide you through a hands-on learning experience and automatically increases the value of this fantastic keyboard. A chord dictionary shows you how to play chords as well as tells you the chord you are playing.

You can connect the YPG-235 to a computer (Mac/PC) via the USB port to download additional songs, as well as make full use of the Y.E.S. Play your songs into the computer, edit them and send them via email to friends and family.

Included accessories are a sheet music rest and a songbook.

The Yamaha YPG-235 is light enough to carry to your next gig, and it looks and sounds awesome in your living room as well, enough to be labeled Yamaha. Power supply not included. Optional YSURVIVE4 recommended.

Comments about Yamaha YPG235 76 Key Portable Keyboard:

I've had this keyboard for a few months now. It is my first keyboard and I got it to teach myself how to start playing the piano. It is a great learning tool and a beginner's buddy. This keyboard provides swift mobility to enhance your dexterity in your fingers.

Though touch responsive, large dynamic contrasts are very hard to obtain. Because the keys are not weighted, it does not feel like a traditional grand piano, and nor does the grand piano setting sound like one. However, you get use to the 'not-so-grand' piano sound and there are a lot of other voices to choose from. String settings in particular are very elegant.

Though certainly not the best digital keyboard on the market, this thing is good for the new pianist on the block. It's loaded with features and learning tools and everything a beginner needs. Actually, I'd say it has a lot more than what a beginner needs. It has loads of buttons and mechanisms that I've yet to discover the functions of. It has an owner's manual, but it's really technical and difficult to follow. I just stick with the trial and error routine. Besides, that one big 'portable grand' button is all I really need to start playing.

Again, let me emphasize that this product is best for BEGINERS. I am certainly going to be looking for something a lot more realistic with 88 weighted keys and good dynamic contrasts in the future, as I develope my piano skills. But, this will do for now and it was a good bargain.

Comments about Yamaha YPG235 76 Key Portable Keyboard:

We bought 6 of these to start a school keyboard lab. They have been great! The kids love all the professional quality sounds. It's great for teaching kids the basics of synthesized music as well as piano/keyboard skills. One of them has had some minor problems with not playing notes accurately from time to time but it seems to have worked itself out.

Comments about Yamaha YPG235 76 Key Portable Keyboard:

So...I got this keyboard as a birthday gift and it was pretty good. Only thing is that it is not good if you want to play any kind of music other then jazz or classical or blues (if your playing classical music I don't know why you would want an electric keyboard.)There are plenty of sound though. Many of which are just silly sounds like laughter and a laser gun.
