Comments about Yamaha FGX730SC Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I am primarily an electric guitar player, but for some things you just have to have that acoustic guitar sound. I spent some time with a Takamine and also an Epi' PR-5 and this Yamaha FGX 730sc wins hands down (or up if you're strumming that direction)
The guitar is really beautiful to look at. The rosewood side and back has an exceptionally rich look with a nice grain. The solid spruce top also has a nice grain and the "booking" down the center matches well on this particular guitar. The fingerboard feels good and fret-work looks good as well. The width and depth of the neck fits my hands well. The neck is "nato" and is a bit lighter in color than the sides and back, but matches good enough, The nut appears to be plastic, but seems okay as well,
Now to the sound! It sounds great! Unplugged, it has nice rich lows and mid's, but a little light on the treble side (high e & b strings). And then you plug it in and it just gets better! Great sound from the pre-amp and pickups on all strings. Chords sound excellent. I guess the thing I like best about this guitar is that wonderful "percussion" sound that this guitar easily produces. I really have nothing negative to say about this guitar and I'm happy with the purchase.
And speaking of that end, I'm pretty happy with SamAsh as well. I tried the PR-5 from another online retailer and was told several things that turned out to be completely untrue (grover tuners...no, solid top...no). SamAsh was spot on with the description, delivered quickly and even beat the "other retailer's" price on a black Friday deal.
They say these solid tops sound better the more you play them. I'm gonna play the heck out of this guitar and together, we'll both sound better!
