Comments about Yamaha FG720S12 12 String Acoustic Guitar:

I received this Guitar this past Christmas 2011. This Guitar is crisp, fun and begs to be played. The Guitar stays in tune and travels well in a a hard case. I love playing this Guitar. Now when I was hinting to the wife for this gift I tried all the 12 strings that I could try (Ibanez, Fender & Takamine). I kept coming back to the Yamaha that has a very pleasing sound and felt just right to play. This guitar is worth the money and I feel Yamaha hit it out of the ball park with this one. My Guitar instructer loves this Guitar and enjoys playing it when I bring it into class. For the money you cannot go wrong and when you play and hear some of the other models you feel you are getting the biggest bang for the buck.

Comments about Yamaha FG720S12 12 String Acoustic Guitar:

I play solo singer-songwriter and in an acoustic trio--using this for those occasions when I want to channel some John Denver-type vibe.
What is great about the guitar is that it is well-constructed, following Yamaha's proven capacity to build quality instruments for reasonable prices. In addition, it has a sound which is "full". It has plenty of low end, without sounding muddy, while retaining the chimey quality for which 12-strings are noted, without sounding tinny.
One drawback is the tuners Yamaha is using appear to have shorter string posts, which makes it difficult to get sufficient wraps around the post to ensure it will hold its tuning. If Yamaha would change the specs to require its supplier make the posts about 3/32" longer this problem would be eliminated. Another drawback is the size. It is almost an inch wider in the lower bout than a standard dreadnought which, while making for a deeper richer sound, makes it difficult to find a good quality hardshell case [or a hybrid case, which will fit it. It will not fit in a case for a standard dread. One has to go for a case for a jumbo sized guitar and wind up with a case that does not provide a snug fit.
