Great and effective unit, sooner or later I might only need carry a unit this compact with swappable hard drives built in.

The only drawback I can see is scratching is horrible on this thing that can be fixed thru software updates. There are no effects but that too can be rectified with updates (minor set back). For the most part excellent unit, and I don't have to worry about ruining my laptop anymore.

I have seen reviews on this unit shutting down and unreliable.I will tell you i have used it for 6 months and it has only done it twice.Why? It is very sensitive to being overdriven.Input and output.If you keep levels tight and don't borderline the levels theres no problem with this.If you can dj and watch your levels at the same time,then your not really a skilled artist that should use this unit.

Very responsive to portable hardrives.USB drives are ok but have a load time of 30 seconds or less a song (mp3).Wave files load within seconds on usb and portable drives.However as a dj im not really feeling the headphone cue setup.It is a small knob on the front end of the unit which you have to turn from left to right every song change.Should have been a fade control type.

Recently, i have had problems with the auto cue.Sometimes have a bit of trouble lining up to hit play without jogging it around a bit.
NOTE:Portable hardrvies will need a double end plug to use both usb slots. You can also use a keyboard on it.As far as a monitor,You can use record output but your monitor will need volume control unless you leave it at one level the whole time. I usually run into another mixer but you can use its as its own as well.

Unlike record and cd players, it is very very accurate in mixing.You are mixing with pure digital speed not momentum.You have to be very skilled if you are blending.If your just doing weddings or events which don't require club blending it wont matter.i consider it more reliable than laptop mixing and cdr.3 minute set up and your ready to go.

OK, basically i got sick of scattered cds from going threw music and being scratched up in the aftermath of it all.Also laptop setting up is a pain.If your a dj who plays to a diverse crowd,go for this and im sure you will have less gray hair and only carry only one bag. Remember though, trust nothing 100 5.Bring back up CDRs just in case and a backup drive of your music, you never know.

This is a nice unit to play around with, and you could bypass a laptop. The sound card is rather impressive but the upload time, depending on type and size of hard drive takes between 10-30 seconds! I could sort bpm's for the entire library but not for folders. For use around the house, it was irresistable. I could barely tear myself away from it. If you're playing in a club and have less than 30 seconds on a song, watch out!
